In the Valdosta Times of this week
appears an application for charter by
the Valdosta Electric Light Company.
The concluding words arc the usual
vague promise, “and your petitioners
will ever pray, Ac.” The printer
made it read, “will ever prey, Ac. It
is not nlwnys the case that corpora
tions are thus specific in putting the
public on notice of their designs.
Northerners Meet in Georgia.
An important convention of North
ern horn sitizens of Georgia was held
in Douglasvillc, yesterday. The fol
lowing resolutions were unanimously
adopted :
Itemlved, That we, natives of north
ern states, now residents or Georgia,
return heartfelt thanks to the south
ern people for the courtesy received
at their hands, and are sincerely glad
to he identified with them in up
building one of the greatest common
wealths of the nation.
Rm/lvcd, That we pledge ourselves
to do all in our power to diffuse the
truth concerning the social, political
ami temporal condition of this great
state, and the south generally, that the
people of the different sections may
know each other, and have faith in
their well meaning and refute the un
truths told of this section by unprin
cipled politicians and uninformed
tourists.
