They find it difficult to keep cool under the circumstances. the farmers do not want it. If it be i found to he a class measure, to grant I favors to a class, it is not what they *'? HU | ask. The farmers believe they are suffering from class legislation and could not, under any circumstances, violate the organic laws of the country. They come to you as patriotic citizens, devoted to the good of the general public and the welfare ol the govern ment, at.d simply demand justice and right.” "What the farmers want is legisla tion that is just to e’ ery citizen If what they have asked is wrong, give them some legislation that is a relief, for they are determined to have their rights or know the reason why.” While the farming classes need AdvicetotheAged.. SOLD EVERYWHERE. The federal election bill is being discussed in the house. Lodge opened lor the bill and Hemphill against it. The nimble mercury worked its way up to 98, in Savannah on Thursday. This was the hottest day of the season. It is said that Bob Brewer, the reckless black outlaw, was killed near Gainesville, Fla., a day or two since. Wonder if McKinley has found out that Blaine is loaded? Blaine ap pears, in fact to be loaded (er “bar.” Remember the great confederate reunion at Chattanooga on the 3th, 4th and 5th of July. Low rates on all the roads. At last a monument is to be erected to the late Alexander Stephens. This is a fitting tribute to one of Georgia most distinguished sons. Col, Tom Watson’s manly refusal to be shot by Judge l’wiggs, has made him many friends. The day 0/ duel ling have passed. Happily so. The News intimates that Atlanta is counting some of her population twice. If the supervisor does his duty there will be no duplicate names. Reed has remounted, he is in the sad die, with both leet securely fixed in the stirrups ; and he is riding rough shod over every democrat who is in his way. A Pittsburger being asked by the ceusus enumerator for the “profession trade or occupation” of his wife, a provided in question 16, replied '•Home Ruler.”—Pittsburg Chronicle. Northern papers will probably howl about the latest race prejudice at the south. A white man objected to be ing hung with three negroes the other day in Memphis ; and the officer gave the darkeys forty minutes the start It is likely, nowever, that they all landed at the same place, though the negroes said they were booked lor s'ofy- All America will send greeting to "Our Mary,” now Mrs. Nevarro. Mary Anderson adorned the stage. Few women shed a brightor lustre about the footlights, or have quit the stage, carrying more genuine esleem with them Irom an appreciative pub- lie. The Constitution says: It is said that the bonds for building the first section of the Augusta and West Florida railroad have been placed iu New Vork city through James U. Jaakson, of Augusta. The road is projected to extend from Auguste to Thomasville, Ga,, about 230 miles, and the grading is now in progress on the first fifty-three miles irom Augusta. The latest preposition, and we are not surprised at it, is to pension every loyal citizen of the north, who hurrah ed for the flag, whether he went into service or not, It is argued, and with same show of reason, too, that many who stayed at home, actually helped the unipty cause more lhan many who went into service. This is very likely. O, yes, they will pension them all in the end. Biddy, the babies, mothers- in law, cousins, aunts, uncles, ststeis, brothers, and—well every dead beat who will agree to vote the republican ticket at the next election. farming friendly legislation, need it against the combines, trusts and monopolies which have ground them into dust, it is now, very generally agreed that the sub-treasury plan will not work, and that other and more practical methods of relief should be adopted. Few men, unless it be a man like Livingston, with everything to gain and nothing to lose, would now openly and public ly advocate the sub treasury plan. It is a delusion and a tnare. It would ruin the very men who expect to be benefilted. A man who would try to ridebnto office on an issne, which is misleading throughout, which is a blind, deserves a crushing defeat. Charley Mebatie Married. We find the following in the New Albany (Indiana) Ledger: “The marriage of Mr. Charles S. Mebane, of the engineer’s department of the Air Line, this city, and Miss Jessie Bower, of Jeffersonville, occur red on the evening of the 19th at the residence of the bride’s parents at Jeffersonville. Mr, Mebane has hosts of friends in New Albany who tender him through the Ledger their congratu lations upon this auspicious event his life. The bride is a highly accom plished lady and will prove an acces sion to the social circles of the city They will reside on West Market street.” And from the south'and, where til groom or.ee lived, and where friends still live, will be wafted westward, the first southern breeze, the hearty congratulations of Charley’s boyhood’s friends. For him and his fair western bride, may the future have in store long years ol wedded bliss, prosperity and happiness. I'lit iiuiKli, r« SPECIALTIES. and PEARS. Bainiiridge, Ga., June 26.—Brake- men Charles Zimmerman and J. A. Bowden, on the east-bound freight train on the Alabama Midland, this morning at seven 0,clock in this county, near Donalsonville, in a wreck of a train of five cars on that road. Neither had a family, and each was about 20 years old, Their bodies were brought here, prepared fur burial and sent to their friends and relatives in Montgomery this alternoon, Both bodies were horribly mangled. No one else was hurt in the accident, which appears to have been caused by the rails spreading. St. Paul and Minneapolis are mak ing mouths at each other about the census. Each charges the other with the grossest kind ot frauds. It charged that enumerators, to swell the population, named and counted the lamp posts. The meanest man in America, al ways excepting Tern Reed, turned up in Philadelphia, the other day. He lost $20,000 in money. A poor cab driver found it, and returned it. He gave him $2.
