Mid-Winter Sports.
The little negro gamins about town
are determined to enjoy mid-winter
sports, when the thermometer is co
quetting around the top of the ther
mometer. They have discovered that
a long plank placed up and down a
stairway on lower Broad street makes
a good toboggan slide hy putting a
little lard on the surface of the plank,
and its they come flying down their
contact with the heard sidewalk
caused considerable amusement to
the bystanders.
Resolutions of Thanks.
At the regular meeting of the
Thomas Hussars, Tuesday night, the
following resolution of thanks was
unanimously passed:
Kemlttd, That we heartily thank
all the ladies who so zealously aided
in the July 4th festival; also all the
friends who so generously donated ar
ticles and money ; also, the Tliomas-
ville Guards for their disinterested
efforts in behalf of the Hussars; also,
Quartermaster Balfour and Lieuten
ant Hopkins lor valuable services.
The Hussars assure them, one aud
all, that what they have so nobly and
unselfishly done, is appreciated to the
fullest extent.

The Atlanta National Building and
Loan Association.
The management of the Home Of
fice is composed of some of the best
and most influential of Georgia’s sons.
Among them is Gov. John B. Gor
don, who is Vice President. For the
convenience of farmers, the Atlanta
National lias instituted n (.'In** for
them, which is a feature contained in
no other Building and Loan Associa
tion.
The first building and loan nssocia,
lions had their origin in England over
100 years ago. The first organization
in this country was in Philadelphia in
1834—in the nearly sixty years since,
over 140,000 houses have been built
in that city. There is estimated to be
now about 600 associations operating
in Philadelphia.
Better than a Havings Bank.
Because it pays four times the pro
fit ; because the loans arc made to its
members, aud not to corporations.
Better than Rail Rond Stock.
Because there is more profit and no
risk ; because shareholders arc not li
able for anything beyond the shares
they hold; because these societies
have absolutely no speculation con
nected with them.
Better than an Insurance Policy.
Because you need not dio to get
your money.
Because the withdrawal value
cosh. Because the Atlanta National
has no Insurancc.Plan, or any Unusu
al or Untried Features, whereby it
may be brought into liability or insol
vency.
Better than Loan Building and
Loan Stock.
Because the profits are larger and
the safety greatei.
Because the borrowers do jiot de
create ns the association grows old
Because local associations are affected
by local cnuscs, but an association
covering the wholj United States, is
not.
Because towns which arc building
up rapidly, get the benefit and use of
the money of those towns which mere
ly carry stock as an investment.
Terms of withdrawal hnvo ndvan
tnge of nil other Building and Loan
Associations.

The Value of Money.
Men ot unlimited means hardly appre
ciate the value of just one dollar, but with
the poor every dollar means so ■ much toil
and so much cll'ort. It is a comfort to know
that the poverty stricken invalid can deriv-
so much good from so little expenditure,
when they invest their dollars in il 11 II
(Botanic Blood Balm).
W C McGnuhey, Webb City, Arkansas,
writes: “B B II lias done 1110 more good and
for less money than any other blood purifier
I ever used. I owe tin: comfort ol my life
to it."
A. P. McDonald, Atlanta, Uu„ writes:
"I had a running ulcer on my leg. Several
doctors failed to do it goo L Three bottles
of B B B effected a cure. B It B als. cured
my brother of a running sore.”
David Thurman, Atlanta, Ga, says:
“I was a constant sufferer for many many
years with Scrofula and Kc/.cmn. A few
bottles of B B B cured me.”
John M Davis, Tyler, Texas, writes: -I
was subject a number of years to spells of
inflammatory rheumatism, which six bottles
ofBBB thank heaven,has entirely cured
I have not felt the slightest pain since.'
