Ochlockonee Dots.
Unit)! rain ! 1 rain!!!
Ihe earth i8 soaked.
The fodder pullers are blue.
The farmers say tney will only get
a half crop ol cotton on account of so
much rain, and still it rains.
Your pencil pusher is so busily eir
gaged, that it is impossible for him to
take time to write all the locals. How*
ever he will try and furnish you with
a few dots occasionally.
Hurrah for Ochlockonee! We still
boom, twenty or thirty houses going
up between now and Christmas. It’s
so, Bro. Triplett, and if you don’t
believe it come up aud wo’ll convince
you.
The health of our community is
splendid, no sickness for the past six
weeks. Our physiciaus arc having a
rest.
Protracted meetings are the order
of the day now, which is had on ripe
chickens.
Mrs. Lula Mitchell spent several
days with Mrs. Haber, last week.
Misses Bertha Mattox and Mallio
Norton spent Monday night with
Miss Gussie McMillan.
Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Isom spent
Saturday night with Mrs. G. M. Bul
lock.
Mr. Robert Deklc, wife and daugh
ter, spent Sunday with their grand
mother, Mrs. Maria Hurst.
Mr. W. H. Buckhalt is busily en
gaged in making syrup barrels, and
will furnish all who arc in need of
any.,
Misses Olivia Lindsay, and Minnie
Singletary left Wednesday for Flovil-
la, to spend several weeks.
Miss Annie Dekle is visiting Miss
Dora Dekle, of Thomasville this
week.
Misses Chipola Wiggins, of Thom
asville, and Gussie Chastain, of Lake
land, Fla., are visiting Mrs. Eddie
Berwick.
Mr. Harry Baker returned from
Savannah Wednesday.
Messrs. Shivers and Charlie Wight,
two popular salesmen of Albany, were
among us Tuesday.
The many friends hercoi Mr. Wade
Lester, who travfeled for Mr. H. J.
Lamar it Son. were grieved to learn of
his recent death.
As the train passed through Wed
nesday morning, we had the pleasure
of seeing the genial face of Bro. Trip
lett. He had a smile on his face as
long as the Lord’s Prayer. Wonder
it that "beautiful girl” was on the
train ? Bro. Triplett, you certainly
haven’t seen all our pretty girls here,
or else you would think this the place
to get the "most beautiful girl” for
High & Co. Your pencil pusher
thinks so, and he is a good judge of
beauty.
Surscriber.
Absence of Fruit.
Watermelons will soon have disap
peared from the market, and the first
of the cane supply will begin to come
in. There has been no peaches nt all
raised in this section this season, and
the absence of this and other fruit
has : caused the housekeepers who
usually put up preserves for winter
use great disappointment. About
one half as many pears have been
shipped this season against last year.
The short fruit crop has prevailed in
all the fruit sections in the state, ns
well as in this county. Usually we
got qpjte n number of early peaches
froift Florida, but scarcely any have
been received this year.
The Jury Commissioners Hard
at Work,
The Jury Commissioners, Messrs.
W. P. Glower. W. M. Smith, J. T.
Pittman, Jas. Singletary, A. C. Ste
venson aud J. C. Staualond, have
been laboring faithfully since Monday
morning revising the jury box. At
noon yesterday they had completed
the list through the S’s and will finish
some time to-day. When through it
is safe to say that the work will be
well done.
Will Commence This Fall.
Mr. James K. Perry, President of
the Dardnnellc Bank, at Durdnnelle,
Ark , and who speut last winter here
in the interest of the Georgia Hedge
Company, hns been in the city for
several days. His agents made quite
a number of contracts while here last
season, and the work of putting in the
hedges will commence this fall. Capt.
Perry left yesterday lor Atlanta and
points in Alabama.
Correction.
In the published proceedings of the
July meeting of the County Commis
sioners a mistake occurred in reler-
ence to the road ordered opened by
Commissioner Lilly. Instead of read
ing through the Thomasville district
it should have read : I’he road com
missioners of the Duncanville district
were ordered to open a road from
Metcalfe through the Duncanville dis
trict.
Dr. E. Christie, ol Miccosukie, was
in the city on business a few hours
yesterday.
The proceedings of the monthly
meeting of tho Board ofCounty Com'
raissioners appears elsewhere.
Mr. Leb Dekle and family expect
to leave this morning for Salt Springs,
aud other points in North Georgia,
where they will spend sonic time re
cuperating.
We would repeat our advice to the
farmers to save all ihe hay possible.
The western crops are badly damaged
by drought, and wheat, corn, oats,
bran and hay will be much higher
than at present. Everything that can
be grown this year in the way of stock
food will find a ready home market.

Dear Siu—At your request I will state
my case. Some years ago I contracted
malaria in its most violent form while liv

physicians and took numberless preparations

here tried new remedies, said to always cure
malaria, and it still stuck to me, nnd you
know' the broken-down condition I was in
when I came to you. You put me to taking
your P. P. P. (Prickley Ash. Poke Boot aud
Potassium), and I improved rapidly, and am
to-day in as good health as I ever was—in
fact better. As a remedy for a broken-down
constitution it has no equal.
