Editor Times-Exterfbise :
I know this letter will not interest
you and a part of your subscribers,
but perhaps some of my friends around
Chnstniu would like to hear from me,
therefore I write these few lines.
I arrived here on tho Cth, and am
pleasantly located on Pennsylvania
Avenue, which is by far the most at
tractive street in the city. Here the
rich and poor throng the streets to
gether, going to nnd from visiting tho
various places of interest.
The first and most attractive spot
that I was shown, was the star iu the
floor of the Pennsylvania depot, where
President Garfield’s head struck when
he was shot by Guiteau.
Next point of interest was the Na
tional Museum. The first thing I no
ticed was Gen. Washington’s clothing,
camping outfit, and a great many
things he used during the Revolution
ary war. If 1 was gifted with all the
power for writing that man could pos
sibly have, I could not make the
reader realize what great benefit it
would be to visit this beautiful and
lovely city, nnd see us Bnrnum says,
“The Greatest Show on Earth.”
I was next shown how Uncle Sam
manufactured the root of all evil,
(greenbacks). In the aUernoou I vis
ited the Capitol nud saw Boss Reed.
To-morrow I expect to visit the Arse
nal and other points of interest.
For fear I will weary your patience
I will close by saying that l)r. Smith,
who is witli me, says he expects to
come again. Respectfully,
W.B. Dukes.

They look like an old friend return

is’nt it. Our advertising editor went
on a strike last month, just declared
he would not write ad’s while it was
so hot. We have him in harness

so.
And about millinery—midsummer
millinery—you need it now if ever,

latter days when every one offers S.T

cost, and all that kind of “charity,”
we hesitnte to quote prices. We arc
not in that class.
Ask your neighbor about prices at
L. B. M. II. and come talk it over
with us. Wcarchcreto please our
patrons and wo don’t allow labor or
prices to stand in the way. We will
go to New York last of this month for

The season is here when the farmer
asks himself: “Shall I sell my cotton
or hold it?” The experience of past
years prove that as a rule, it pays to
sell cotton as fast as it is gathered and
haled. There has been now and then
nn cxccptiou to this, hut the farmers
who sell as fast as their cotton is ready
for market, generally come out lies}.
}Iowcver, this is a question for every
one to settle for himself.
During the epidemic of flux in this county
last summer, I lmd hard work to keep a
supply of Chamberlain’s Colic, Cholera nnd
Diarrhoea Remedy on hand. People often
came ten or twelve miles in the night t« get
a bottle of the Remedy. I have been selling
patent medicines for the last len yaers and
find that it has given better satisfaction in
cases of diarrhoea and Hux, than any other
medicine I have ever handled.—J. H. Den

Over five hundred bottles of this Remedy
were sold in that county during the epidem
ic referred to. It Mas a perfect succccs3

Malaria and Broken Down Constitution.
Waycros?, Ga.
Dr. ir. U. Whitehead:
Dear Sir—At your request I will state
my case. .Some years ago I contracted
malaria in its most violent form while liv
ing at Newark, X. J. I consulted various
physicians nnd took numberless preparations
recommended as “sure cures,’’ but it stuck
to me like a brother—or more like a mother-
in-law. I finally came .South, and while
here tried new remedies, said to always cure
malaria, ami it still stuck to me, and you
know the broken-dow n condition I was in
when f came to you. You put me to taking
your P. P. P. (Prickley Ash. Poke Root ami
Potassium), and I improved rapidly, and am
to-day in ns good health as I ever was—in
fact better. As a remedy fora broken-down
constitution it has no equal.
