Seventeen Snakes Killed.
Quite n lively rattlesnake den was
found on Mrs. Jane Parraraore’s place,
six miles from the city, a few days
ago. The parent snake was killed,
and when measured was found to be
nearly six feet long, mid sported six
rattles. The den was exploded, and
sixteen young rattlers, each measur
ing twenty inches, and having a rat
tle and button, were dug out and
killed. Seventeen rattlesnakes found
and killed all in one day is a pretty
healthy snake story, hut Mr. James
Parramorc, who reported the aflair,
says it is a true ouc
Pitts in the Ring.
Every one here remembers David
L. Pitts. The Constitution thus al
ludes to him:
“Mr. David L. Pitts, formerly of
Thomas county, is the last entry in
the race for doorkeeper of the house
of representatives. Mr. Pitts lived
for thirty years in Thomas county, oc
cupying several positions of public
trust there, having been sheriff of the
county at one time, and deputy sheriff
several times. He moved to Atlanta
several years ago. He announces his
intention of making the race for door
keeper, and says he has warm assur
ances of support throughout thestate.”
Weather Indications—A Severe
Winter Predicted.
The weather prophets are out with
their predictions for fall, dealing espe
cially with this month, and the equi
noctial period. Cool nights with
touches of frost to the Northward, are
predicted for the opening of the pre
sent month. From about the 19th
people should bo prepared for sudden
changes, and a cold wave with frosts.
From the 26th to 30tli will be the last
of the stormy sepson. The present
month bids fair to close with cool
nights, with cold weather, and per
haps frost enough to justify watchful
ness and preparation against damage
to early vegetation. Tho present win
ter, it is predicted, will be much more
severe than last.

How about our hotel ? We need it
and must have it, or our interest will
suffer very materially. Why not
mak9 an effort now? Work up a stock
company for the building of n first-
class hotel. Call a meeting of the
citizens of the town and see what the
result will be. Our efficient post
master (Dr. Boston) received a letter
last week from parties in Indiana,
wishing to obtain board in our town
from the first of Oct. ’till May next.
All that is necessary is a ' first-class
hotel, and we would be crowded with
winter visitors. Now, Mr. Postmaster,
why not you turn your beautiful resi
dence “Pine View” into a hotel?
'Tis nearing completion, aud will be a
lovely, quiet place. Open your door,
tell them to como, and you will in
future reap a rich harvest. Wo have
tho best country in the world, and we
must let the world know it by having
them come among us.
Mr. Rice Sills met with almost a
serious accident Sunday afternoon.
He was on horseback, coming in town
from a rido, when the horse, from
some cauic, began running, and ran
over a cow that was crossing the road,
causing the horse to fall ana throwing
Mr. Sills some distance. Fortunate
ly no bones were broken, but ho was
badly bruised up and suffered 'con
siderable pain.
Quite a crowd went up to Meigs
Sunday from here to attend the union
meeting. Among them were Misses
Anni6 Deklc and Minnie Baston, and
Miss Dora Dekle, of Thomasville,
joined them here, and we’ll wager
that no town could have sent up a
more lovely aud facinating trio of
young ladies.
Mr. Weal Curry left on the 28th
to engage in business at Waycross.
Miss Lucy Sills, of Florida, is visit
ing her sister, Mrs. W. J. White.
J. A. Bullock has treated himself
to a pair of very fine mules and a wag
on, which cost 8440.00.
J. M. Glenn, editor of the South;
west Georgian, was in town Saturday
shaking hands with his friends.
Miss Cora Pittman returned to
Thomosvillo Tuesday evening, accom
panied by Misses Bessie McMillan
and Pearl Singletary,
Mrs. Stewart, of Randolph county,
who lias been visiting her sister, Mrs.
Hardy Hay, i eturnea home Wednes
day.
We are glad to learn that Mrs.
Sherman McCullar is slowly improv
ing from a severe illness. Dr. McIn

with Dr. Baston.
Dr. Glenn, of Cairo, was iu town

It is possible, we should like to say possible.
L. B. SI. II. cannot accomplish this, would
that it could, but it proposes to rush matters
in its own line. Our advertising-editor

sympathize with him, because that is just
what wc are going to do the coming season.

Dear Sirs: About three years ago I was
taken with liver and kidney disease, the
doctors treated me with only temporary re
lief, they give me up to die, saying thnt
there was no medicine known to them that
would do me any good. From three to five
months at a time I was confined to my bed,
notable to get up when down. During ny
sickness I was taken with Diabetes ns much
as one gallon of water would pass from me
during the night, I fell off until I was noth
ing but a skeleton. Last march I left
Thomasville, Ga., my home, on my bed, the
doctors saying that I could not possibly live
to get to Columbus, Ga. When I arrived in
Columbus, I commenced to take W. W. C.,
I have taken six bottlca up to this date, I nm
now able to attend to my work. Up to the
time.I commenced to take W. W. C., I had
not done n days work tor 2 years. 1 have put
in five days work this week. During this
time I have taken no other medicine hut
W. W. C. I was also covered with seres
Irom the crown of my head to the sole of my
feet, suffered with a pain directly over my
heart for three years that no medicine would
relieve. After taking the first two bottles of
W. W. C., the pain was entirely removed
and I have not felt a symptom of it since. I
was treated, during my sickness, by Drs.
Deklc, Ramsey and Bruco, of Thomasville,
Gn„ who can testify to my condition. I
cheerfully recommend it to all who suffer
with liver and kidney troubles, to give W.
W.C.( Wooldridge's Wonderful Cure) atrial,
os it has saved my life.
Yours truly,
