At the general conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints the nflhinl declaration of Presi dent Woodrufl forbiddinjf in the fu ture any marriages in violation of the laws of the laud was read. The au dience numbered 10,600 persons, in' cludiug apostles and bishops and the leading elders of the church. By unanimous vote they recognised . the authority of the president to issue the manifesto and accepted it ns nuthori tntive and binding Geo. Q. Cannon publicly announo ed his endorsement ot the manifesto and bis recognition of the supremacy of the laws that had been declared constitutional by the Supreme Court of the United States. . The conference also re-ndopted the original articles of faith, among which is this: “We believe in beiuz subject kings, presidents, rulers and magis trates in obeying, honoring and sus taining the law.” The action taken settles tho vexed question and places an effectual bar against future polygamous marriages in Utah. It is the most important step taken by the church for more than a quarter of a century. TAKE SPRING.
