Council Proceedings. Council Roous, Oct. 13,1890. Council met in regular session, Mayor Hopkins presiding. Aldermen Hayes, Wise and Merrill present. Minutes of last meeting read and confirmed. To the Honorable Mayor and Board oj Aldermen: * Gentlemen—The undersigned, prop erty owners and tax payers, respect fully petition your honorable bod/to have constructed across the Barrattc branch, whero Hardaway street cross es it, a good and substantial bridge for foot and carriage travelers. This is an improvement which is greatly needed, and it will be fully apprecia ted by your petitioners, as well as the public generally, who hare need to pass that way. Signed—C. B. Quinn, J. R. Pittman and nine others. 2b the Honorable Mayor and Board oj Aldermen: Gentlemen—Whereas Jackson street where it is intersected by Mitchell street, is always in bod order and dis agreeable to cross, both to pedestrians and those traveling in vehicles. And whereas the ditchra extending along Mitchell street should drain a large territory, but do not do so thoroughly becauso they are not deep enongb, and the same cannot be sufficiently deepened unless the Jackson street crossing ba improved. And whereas tho deepening of these ditches would dry out all the adjoining territory and greatly improve the health of those residing in that section of the city. And whereas the improvement of said Jackson street would be great ly appreciated by the many, ladies and others who need to crus3 tho branch at that place so often. Now, there fore, we tho undersigned, property holders and tax payers interested, do most respectfully petition your honor able body to have constructed across Said Jacksou street, a substantial brick culvert so that the other im provements can be made. Clerk Adjudged a Lunatic. Annie Jordon, the demented colored woman was tried by a jury in the ordinary’s office yesterday morning for lunacy. Her recollection of dates et;., was good, but when you talked of the present it was there she was off. The- jury decided that she wa3 a fit subject for the asylum, and ren dered a verdict accordingly. She objected to the decision very mueh and said she would die first rather thap go. ■■ ■ ■ ■■■ — Arrested. Hill Baily, who works on Col Mc Intyre’s place, was brought up and placed iti jail yesterday morning charged with taking a horse without permission, and also riding the animal very hard. NOTICE.
