Heath, of Meigs, was in town yesterday. Mr D. A. Finlayson, of Monticel- lo, was in town yesterday. There were quite a number of strange faces at the opera house last night. Mr. H. H. Spear and son, of Chat tahoochee, were registered at thoGulf yesterday. Colored Aristocracy, full of sougs and funny situations, at the opera house to-morrow night. Messrs. Thomas A. Lewis, W. E. Adams and H. F. Brown, o* Colum bus, were in town yesterday. The Hettie Bernard Chase Compa ny left yesterday morning for 1‘roy, Ala., where they played last night. Editor John Denham and wife, ot Monticello, attended the entertainment at the opera house, on Tuesday even ing. Nearly ali the visitors in the city, so far this season, have come from the West. The travel from the North and East is always late. L. - B, ■ M, ■ H. NEWSPAPER ANNOUNCEMENTS ARE GOOD GUIDES, BUT YOUR OWN CLEVER JUDGMENT IS FAR BETTER. THERE IS SO MUCH POOR MILLINERY SOLD NOWADAYS AT HIGH PRICES, THAT PEO PLE KEEP TRYING DIFFERENT DEALERS TILL THEY FIND ONE THAT IS DEPENDABLE. LOWER BROAD MILLINERY HOUSE. d&w Be sure to read the rare offer of a pretty home in E. M. Mnllette’s col umn. For 8200 cash and a few years rent, a nice home can be pur chased. Col. A. T. McIntyre left for At lanta yesterday morning, where he goes to attend a meeting of the trus tees of the State University to be held there to-dny. Mr. James S. I’oythress and friend, Mr. J. P. Ross, of Henderson, N. C.. who have been spending a couple of weeks in the city visiting the relatives of the former, left for home yesterday. The Sponsors and Maids of Honor of the Gunrds and Hussars, with their escorts, occupied the two boxes at the performance Tuesday night. Numer ous opera glasses were leveled at the fair occupants. The Atlanta Constitution has some pleasant things to say about Hon. R. A. Connell, of South Georgia. Mr. Connell has one of the most interest ing exhibits at the exposition grounds, and he has much to say of interest about this section. Colored Aristocracy. Who put those pictures op the wall? Blest if we know. We only kpow they are there, and we also know they are there to advertise the first depar ture in minstrelsy since the days of— wc were going to say Noah, but wont —since the first palmy days of Ha- verly. Colored Aristocracy is a farce com edy played exclusively by white face comediaus disguised in cork. In other words, it is a funny darkey drama, full of music, dancing, singing and ri diculous positions and situations. The initiation of the frightened can didate into the mysterious Order of Alligator*, The Duel, the prize fight for the Belle of Dgrjktpwn and the in imitable burlesque Fire sceneayo trade marks which can never he counter feited. Jtemembcr, this company carries The Oul Niagara; it is fearfully and wonderfully made, but still pumps water and extinguishes the conflagra tion. The trained Goat, Benjamin, has already butted one candidate into the asylum, and nobody knows what he will do next. When we state that the Olio given by Colored Aristocracy is alone worth the price of admission, we simply state tne truth; and the management also wish to impress up on the amusement loving public, that the entertainment is freo from all ob jectionable features, and tho dress cir cle is as well cared for as the gallery. Colored Aristocracy plan’s at the op era house on Friday evenir--, and the advance [sale is at Iteid & Culpep per’s. TAX NOTICE. THIRD AND LAST ROUND.
