The latest rumor is that the engineers of the Midland have been notified to run through to Thomasviilo without change after the 9th. Ail this might be true, but we don’t believe it. How ever, we must be on the lookout. We cannot afford to sit still aud let what we have been working for so ynany years slip from our fingers. The peo ple of Bainbridgo have put out their money and time in order to bring the Alabama Midland through, and should be recognizf.d and treated fairly, and we believe tho railroad officials will treat her fairly. “Wo know that Thomasville wants the Midland, and everything else, so far us that is concerned, and especial ly Bainbridge. She has claimed the earth years ago, and now wants Bain* bridge to fence it in for her. “We admire Thomasville and would like to sea her get the world’s fair, but Bainbrldge want3 the Midland. “But the Savannah News correspond ent says “the advantages of the Ala bama Midland road to Thomasville are beginning to be felt. Among oth er things it will be known as tho Thomasville route. Tickets to Thom- asvilel will be put on sale at every point of any consequence throughout the great, west, where thousands of dollars will be spent annually adver tising the route. Thomasville has spent a good large sum of money in advertising and is still making outlays for that purpose, but the Thomasville route will give Thomasville more free advertising every year than it has had throughout its whole history.” “Free advertising! Why, of couisc! At the expense of the citizens of Bain bridgo and those who have put their money in this mad. She is not satis fied with the ‘ free advertising” she derives from the Midland, but she goes to work to bring about a deal for the terminus.” A pair of Scotch bag pipes, distend ed by a pair of well used lungs, at tracted quite a crowd on Broad street yesterday.
