The fact that the Augusta and West Florida Railroad has been bonded at $15,000 per mile gives great satisfac tion in Thomasvillc. He Didn’t get the Meat. We publish 11st where an interest ing communication from Mr. P. H. Cherry, giving his experience in and around Thomasvillc, as an escaped lederal prisioner. Mr, Cherry has no doubt keenly enjoyed his v.sit to the scenes which he describes. Mr. F. IT. Butler invited him out to his house and showed him the spot where he lound his hog. "Mr. Butler,’’ said Mr. Cherry, “it has been a long time ago, but T am willing to pay iou for that hog, if you say so, but vou should remember that you got it back, and that I did not get any of it except the heart and a piece of the liver.” “All right,” said Fein, we will call r even.” And these two mea, who had fought on opposite sides, ouc wearing the gray and the other the blue, sat down and talked over the past, talked it over is only true and brave men can. Each thought he was right, Mr. Cherry was particularly inter ested in Lum Atkinson’s house, where he spent weeks. "Mr. Atkinson,'’said Mr. Cherry, “I would have known the house any where. It looks exactly tike it did <5 ye-irs ago, 1 do not think a shingle has been put on it.” And the boys had the laugh on Lum. Mr. Cherry leaves to day for his Western home, and carries with him.no doubt, pleasant memories of his last visit to Thomasville. He has many friends here who . will always gladly welcome him to this Sunny Southland of ours.
