A flight of robins was observed passing over the city yesterday morn ing. This is some two months earlier than they usually reach this far south, and it indicates, as the older inhabi tants observe, an early and hard win ter at the North For the past few days everyone has been discussing the good news from the election. The business anil the professional man, the drummer and the larmer, pause long enough to in quire for the latest news, or discuss what has already beon received. It has been the topic of the hour with everyone. Railroad Notes. No. 5, the morning train from Way- cross, was four hours late yesterday, which caused the Albany train to be la‘e going out also. The delay was caused by the engmi of No 5 break ing some part ol the machinery soon after leaving Waycross. New telegraph poles aye being put up. The passenger trains were crowded yesterday. The numerous fairs and exhibitions all over the country has caused mere scalpers tickets to be put into circula tion than ever before. The proportion ot passengers killed on.railroads in Eng'and to the number killed in this country, is just one half. With The Prisoners. W. H. Turner, a convict gunril, came down nud left yesterday with Jim Wycbe, who was sentenced to two years in the service qf the State for larceny from the house, and also William Daniels, who got two years for assault with intent to kill. They will be taken to the Chattahoochee brick yard above Atlanta. Jack Jones, the fire bug, who got a life sentence, and Lloyd Bush, who re ceived two years for assault with iu- teut to commit murder, have, through counsel, made motions for new trials. Five prisoners who got only light terms for lesser crimes, were put on the chain gang yesterday, It is ordered by the board of Road Com missioners TIiomasTille Diatiict, that all the overseers of said district do at least one days’ work on all the public roads in said district, and remove all straw, leaves and trash, and patch up bad places for the com ing fall a'd winter travel, and make returns by December the first.
