Monticello, where they played last night. Tom Burney, the widely known representative of the Atlanta Jounral, was in the city yesterday. He has just recovered from an attack of den gue. Mr. A. A. McFarland and family, of New Jersey, who own a charming country home about six miles from the city, are expected to arrive for the winter shortly. Tho much wished for rain haa at last come with both principal and interest. The merchants welcomed the rain to lay tho dust, and the farmer hailed it with pleasure that he might sow oats. Did you recognize tho populardrum- mer who took one of the characters in the “Clipper” Wednesday evening. The regular actor was indispoied, and as the commercial man was up on the part, he kindly offered to play it in stead. Cards are out for the marriage of Mr. James E. Reynolds, of this city, and Miss Sadie E. Averitt, of White Springs, Florida. The marriage will occur on Tuesday, the 18th. Our con gratulations, in advance, Mr. Rey nolds. A Delightful Evening. The reception tendered Miss Addio Budd, of Monticello, by Miss Mcc Young at the Willows Tuesday night, was cne of the pleasantest social events of the season.
