The guests of the Stuart, and a few others, enjoyed a candy pulling on Tuesday evening, the invitations being sent out by Mrs. C. W. Miller and Ardic Stuart. Later in the evening the parly 1 tapped the light fnntast : c,’’ to the measured strains of a string baud. “Good nights” were said at midnight and everyone retired with pleasant memories of a delight ful evening, some, perhaps, to dream of a fair face or manly form. Met, Greeted and Parted Again. Four advance agents happened to meet in Thomasville yesterday. They were, James McNaviu, repre senting Maud Atkinson, Will I’. Webster, who is one of tile best known men outlie road; John. A. Miller, who has been here several days com pleting arrangements for Dells, Mari- onett’s, and the agent of popular Si Perkins. Ot course the quartette were glad to meet, and exc'naugo ex perience. Like drummers there is a strong band of brotherhood fce' : Dg nmoDg theso travelers whoso home : s on the road, and who workjso hard to cater succe -sf'ully to thealrc goers. The 1? dies of this parish draped St. Thomar, church in mourning forTlish- op Ber:k|with, yesterday morning. The bell was tolled during the hour for the bishop's funeral, from io lo it o’clock. The emblems of mourning will remain until Christmas. Good Sentiments. “The Times Advocate, published at Kf.nsas City, gives expression to the following sentiments : It is full time for this nation to become united. Did the hosts of the army in blue face shot and shells to maintain and perpetuate a more per fect union or to divide tlio nation in to contending sections? If the former, let us seo to it thnt those of their comrades who survive may live to see a country redeemed and its liber ties restored, Down with all sectional Hues. Away with all sectional preju dices. Let the fires of patriotism that still burn in the hearts of the people consume the prejudices of tho- past. Let one flag lloat over us and one spirit so perfectly pervade our hearts that wo shall be able ami will ing to stand shoulder to shoulder in the great army that must make last ing conquests of the hosts of corporate greed that are falling upon the stolen substance of the people.” These sentiments will receive a ready echo throughout the South. There is nothing sectional in the South or the doctrines of the democratic party. Wc have been fighting sec tionalism since the days of reconstruc tion. It is the mission ot the grand old democratic party to wipe out sec tional lines. And it is fast doing it. That hacking cough can be so quickly cured by Shiloh’s Cure.
