News was received yesterday morn ing of the death ol Judge Chisholm, vice-president of the Plant System, and prominent in other railroad in terests. He passed away at ^ o’clock yesterday morning in New York, where he has been in a critical condi tion for some time. At the depot, among ihe railroad men, especially, the sad news wat received with deep regret. The employees connected with all branches of the road feel that they have lost a friend. Judge Chis holm was a brother af Mr. J. B. Chis holm, of this citv. He was a man of sterling integrity, and possessed busi ness qualities of the highest order. The National Alliance, now in ses sion at Ocala, Fla., passed tho follow ing preamble and resolution on Thurs day: Whereas, The Persident of the United States, in liis annual message to congress, recommends and urges the immediate passage of the measure known as the Lodge election bill; and, Whereas, Said bill involves a radi cal revolution in the election machin ery of the union, both state and na tional, and its passage will be fatal to the autonomy of the state and the cherished liberties of their citizens; and, Whereas, The said hill is partisan in spirit ami will he in its implication, thus revitalizing the gory ghost of sectional e-trangemenl; tu al, Whereas, In the war which we have declared against sectionalism, the fireside of the fat Biers of tho north, east, south and t rest, are flic citadels around which the first bat tles are being fought; r aid to the end that victory may crow n our crusade, let fraternity and uni ty reign. There fore, he it Resolved, By the. Nntioual Far mers’ Alliance and .Industrial Union of America, in national council assem bled, that we do most solemnly pro test against the p asnige of the said Lodge election hill; and we most earnestly petition otij- senators to em ploy all fair audlega,' means to defeat this unpatriotic mcasu re, which can result in nothing but -evil to our com mon and beloved conn try. Resolved further, i’h at a copy ol these preambles aud i esolutions he forwarded to each sem itor in con gress The Bad Democrats. A Mr. Humphreys.,a whi te preacher from Texas, is in Ocala, Fl.t., attend ing the meeting of the National Al liance. Mr. Humipbreys is president of the National Colored Alliance. When asked about his former politics, the other day, he said : “I had mighty little politics about me, I used to be a democrat, hut the democratic party got so bad 'hat I quit voting. I had no politics, and never will have, unless some i.Hird party comes up.” We presume the democratic part V in Texas, and the country at large, wiil be able to get along without the co-operation of Mr. Humphreys. Texas rolled up nearly 200,000 dem ocratic majority in the last election without^ Mr. Humphrey’s vote. But then the democratic party is so bad the saintly Mr. Humphreys can’t vote for a democrat and so lie will wait for a third party. Sir. Humphreys says that he occasionally slings a republi can ballot. Mr. Humphreys, you’re scused.'' The democrats will not need you in ’92. As Christmas approaches one natur ally begins to think of the innumera ble articles to be purchased, and the first thing that seems to puzzle them is, where to get them? Why, at Jcr- ger’s, of course, for two reasons: one is —you can find anything there for any kind of gift, appropriate for holiday, anniversary, complimentary or souve nir presents: the other is, ho lias ca tered to suit all purses, and as his stock is so large and varied, you will find anything there, consequently it will not be necessary to go elsewhere. It would be impossible to enumerate the different articles, for anything can be had. Facts are indisputable and demonstrate themselves.
