This prominent alliancemau, the man who came lo Georgia to defeat Gor don, hut failed, has been investigated by the National Alliance Convention. A press report sent to tbo Constitution, a paper which has certainly not been unfriendly to the Doctor, says : McDowell, of Tennessee, chairman oftbe investigating committee, to night gives the press a statement to the effect that Polk and Livingston were completely exonerated by a tin* animous vote of the committee, and thnt fifteen thought Macuno innocent, while ten thought him guilty of the offeree charged. As the committee could n ot agree ho states that for the sake of hai’O'OTiy a compromise was eflectcd on th? report in the shape in which it came in. It is reported to night that Ben ’Terrell and McDowell had a personal •difficulty last night on a balcony of the Ocala house, because Terrell re sented McDowell's reflections on Macune. The story goes that Terrell knocked out two of his antagonist’s teeth. In the same dispatch is found the startling information thatRiltenhouse, President Polk’s private secretary, was traced lo secretary Blaine’s house sometime ago, whero he went to effect ■a transfer of the alliance support to Mr. Blaine. It is said that Polk knew nothing of his secretary’s ac tions. The men who traced Kitten house to Blaine’s door are Mr. N. A. Dnnniug, one of the editors of The Economist, and Mr. J. T. Tillman, of Tennessee, a member of the Executive Board of the Alliance.
