Atlanta, Dec. 9—Yesterday, near
t Monroe, Wa mi county, a cyclone
cleared a space ol sev'.ra miles long
and about one hundred yards wide
blowing down bouses and killing sev
eral pton e. Jack Henderson and his
wile were bur ed beneath the rums of
the r home. Henderson was killed,
but his vile was not badly hurt. Their
baby was carried three hundred yards
away, and was o badly injured that it
died shor.ly after being found. A fam
iiy cf negroes named Jackson were
buried in the ruins of their cabin and
two cl them were killed. Another
house, containing seven negroe , was
blown down, but all of the occupants
esca.ied unhurt.
The democrats in the .Senate are
making a splendid fight against the
force bill. They aro led by Senator
Gorman, of Maryland, who is one of
the ablest men in that body. If
Gorman cannot whip the fight, no
other man cau. The gaze of the
country is centered on the struggle.
