Speaking cf the financial depression and the dem md ot the people lor re lief, the Allanta Constitution offers the dangerous advice that if the Govern ment refuses or fails to give the people what they ask for, then it should be taken by force. And it says that the American people, with their compact business and industrial organizations, can carry through a successful revolu tion in a few days, and they will do it ifihey are driven to it. We cannot follow our contemporary in this propo sition. The time has not conic, and we trust it .t ill never come, when the American people will adopt the argu ment ol force in dealing with their Government. New York, Dec. 9 — Over §3,000,- 000 in gold will start from Europe this week for New York. Nearly all of this will come by the steamship Majestic, which sails to morrow Sat urday and yesterday gold to the amount of §1,500,000 had been or dered. To day’s orders were ns fol lows: Lazard Frcerc3, §000,000; August Belmont, §500,000; Agents’ Bank of Montreal, §250,000; Produce Exchange Bank, $125,000; Kuhn Loeb & Co., §250.000; Heidelback, Ickelheimcr & Co, §100,000; total $1,725,000. It is staled on Wall street to day that owing to the ex treme ease of mouoy in Loudon, the Bank of England is willing to lean from §5,000,000 to $10,000,000 gold in settlement of her trade balances; consequently little fear is entertained that the bauk’s discount rate will be advanced in consequence of these ship ments, Delegates to Asheville. If this schcta? is tried and the Grangers can hold their numbers together, J. J. Ingalls will have a very hard fight on his bands.
