ed as the place for holding the
next coufeience. Thomasville
through Dr. J A. Thompson, ex
tended the body an invitation
to meet here, but a majority
the members favored Valdosta.

pointed presiding elder of the

Thomasvilte some years ago and
is remembered by many of our
people, all of whom will be de
lighted to have him among them

The Western Union Telegraph
Company sent out the following
bulletin from Washington yester
day afternoon:
‘St. Louis, Mo., was solected
to-day as the convention city by
the National Repnblican Commit
tee, and fixed it upon the 16th of
June as the date of the conven
tion.”

James O’Neill, the famous actor,
who was booked to play here ou

gagement. The opera house will

It is said that an excursion of
newspaper men, some 350 in num
ber, will visit Thomasville some
time during the present winter.
They are northern aud western
editors. Thomasville should en
tertain them handsomely.

Messrs. J. W. Lee and J. J. Cone
returned yesteiday morning from
the west, bringing with them two
car loads of mules. They have
some very fine ones in tbe lot and
they can sell them cheap. Tbe
mules aro at Cochran & Lee’s

Mr. E. M. Mallette, the wide
awake real estate agent, has made
several sales of real estate during
the last few days. He sold yes

Etbell is atypical Indianian. That
is to say, he is an all rouud gen
tleman. The “Hoosier” state has
