except for that. When the young
hundred men took Charles Malpaas,
Senior, a white man, to a nearby
water tank and lynched him, at an
early hour this morning.
• The lynching followed a battle
yesterday at the Malpaas home,
where Sheriff Preston, Deputy 5her-
. iff Stiel and two mulatta sons of
Malpaas were killed and Malpass,
'Senior, was wounded. ' • V
