Mr. E. R. Jerger, Worshipful
Master of tbe local lodge of Masons,
has received a commission as rep
resentative of the Grand Lodge of
Quebec, In the Georgia jurisdiction.
The honor of the appointment was
conferred by Grand Master N. H.
Ballard.
Miss Mildred Purser, arrived at
the home of Mr. and Mro. C. D.
Purser on Warren Avenue this
week, and she Is quite a welcome
addition to their home.

agent. This is a splendid car and
one that Mr. Sparks selected after
examining many makes. He states
that It Is one of the first cars man
ufactured and he believes the best.
Lorow Hicks, a negro woman who
came here from Valdosta has been
tried and convicted of being a blind
tiger. 3he was caught doing the Il
legal act by Officer Woodward and
hauled before the Mayor. He took
the evidence and then adjudged her
guilty and gave her a sentence of
ninety nine dollars and cost, or
ninety days on the streets. Lorow
came from Valdosta about two
months ago and she now- finds that
the trip was a very unprofitable one.
The Lodge of Sorrow of the Thom
asville Lodge of Elks was postpon
ed from tomorrow, when it Is unl-
ersally held throughout the coun
try, owing to' tile inability of the
speaker selected to be present. A
time for the unveiling of the monu
ment to the late Joseph Fass will be

Beloved Woman Laid to Rest,
Miss Lemma Weldon, who died at
her home near Boston last Saturday,
after a long illness, was a sister of
Mr. R. A. Weldon, of this city, who
attended the funeral services
Boston on last Sunday afternoon.
Miss Weldon was sixty-seven years
of age and leaves an aged mother
and several sisters and brothers
She was a devoted daughter and sis
ter, and her life was centered Is
her home, her family and her
friends.
The funeral services were con
ducted by Rev. D. B. Anderson, of
the Presbyterian church.

Hugh J. MacIntyre.

open to the guests and beautifully
decorated for the occasion.

masses of autumn leaves with their
brilliant colorings, formed a back
ground for quantities of beautiful
Madame Lambert roses, which were
used in profusion everywnere, the
whole forming a brilliant setting
for the many handsome gowns
worn by those receiving and calling.
The dining roohi was entirely in
Pink. The table was centered with
a large basket of beautiful pink
roses, tied with a huge bow of pink
tulle, and the light from many pink
shaded candles, shed a soft glow
over the brilliant equipments of cut
elass and silver.
Receiving with Mrs. Hammond,
were Mrs. Hugh MacIntyre, Mrs,
E. M. Smith, Mrs| Chandler Cope
land, of Metcalfe, Mrs. C. H. Cald
well, of Bainbridge and Mrs. A. D.
Little.
The guests were met in tbe hall
by Mrs. Fraser Driver, Mrs. Anson
Ball and Mrs. John Montgomery, Jr.
Mrs. J. W. Dillon, Jr., and Miss
Louise Hayes. Punch was served
by Miss Florence Pringle, Miss Flor
ence Vaughn and Miss Florence
Ellis, of Dothan, Ala.
In the dining room were Mrs.
Tim Chisholm, Mrs. Ben Ingram,
Mrs. Eugene Smith and Misses Nell
Pringle and Frances Chisholm. Tea
was poured by Mrs. Robert Thom
as and coffee by Mrs. W. H. Rock
well.
Mrs. Hammond was beautifully
gowned in pink taffeta, with a cor
sage of orchids and valley lilies.
Mrs. MacIntyre, wore a handsome
gown of white chiffon over white
satin and her flowers were pink
carnations.
Mrs. Smith, wore a lovely gown
of pompadour taffeta,
Mrs. Caldwell was handsomely
gowned in black spangled net over
black satin and her corsage was of
orchids and violets.
Mrs. Copeland’s handsome gown
was of black chiffon over black
satin.
Mrs. Little wore a prety gown of
yellow chiffon ever yellow taffeta.
