City Manager of Tallahassee to come
to Thomasville and merely explain the
details of operation and Its results in
the first year to the people of Thom-

This meeting is not for making a

It does not want any public expres

educational meeting in which the
committee will have explained the

The legislature is going to investi

various districts in Georgia with the
idea of finding out the charactei of

BUY AT HOME.
“The Times-Enterprise is right
when it states that real nice things
can he bought cheaper here than else
where. I never believed it until I
recently visited shops in some of the
big cities of the South and I found
that it was easier, cheaper and in
every way more satisfactory to shop
at home.”
This, statement was volunteered to
the editor a short time ago by a
prominent Thomasville citizen! who
has recently had occasion to visit

new form of government so that
Thomasville citizens may Judge as to

The Times-Enterprjse has been try

along. This Is but one of the many
evidences that prove thut we are
right. Buying at home is a habit
with some people for patriotic rea
sons and with others because they
can get better stuff here and more
satisfaction in every way. The com

CHOLERA IN RUSSIA.
Ree.-nt news despatches bring re
ports of a wide spread epidemic of
cholera in Russia. These reports
have not been comirmea but are still
generally believed to be accurate,
iftom all available information that
comes from Russian sources.
The epidemic is said to he spread
ing with alarming rapidity through
central and Southern Russia and its!
toll is abnormally large by reason of |
the non-resistant power of the people
of that country, emaciated by want
of proper food for years and, debilitat
ed by the most calamatous series of
governmental failures that were ever
known to a civilized country.
The danger to the world is appar
ent. This disease is spread wdth
alarming quicking. It goes every
where and while It may not prove to
the same extent fatal in this country
as many other it has so many evils
and dangers as to be almost a world
wide menace. At one time in 1835
the whole world was infected with
this disease and its toll of death was
enormous. Ten years later It cost
England fifty thousand lives, as many
as on Its first appearance and in
some sections of Europe and Asia the
number of deaths ran well Into the
hundred thousands.
and find out really and trully what
has been accomplished. There aro
some of them that, perhaps are not
functioning up the highest standurd
set for them. There are some that
have a definite purpose in view and
it would be better for all Georgia to
make them come up to the ideals of
their establishment rather than to
abolish them, when no better cause
can lie assigned than that the state
is behind with Its revenue.
It would be unusual and perhaps
abnormal if all of the district agricul
tural schools were doing the best work.
The average is far above that of any
similar set of schools that w*e have
known of or read of and there is a
definite feeling of certainty that the
Second District has profited enor
mously from its district school at Tif-
ton.
NEVER SAY DIE!
A New Jersey farmer who had be
come despondent over the prolonged
drought in his part of the country
went out into his fields and absorbed
additional depression by the sight of
his withering grain. Under a deplor
able impulse he drew' his pistol and
killed himself. Then there came the
rain he had despaired of and three
hours later his dead body w'as found
in a pool of w-ater that had formed in
the field. The incident has afforded
the papers abundant food for moraliz
ing and it is more popularly exploited
In connection with the story of a
young artist who did not kill himself,
although fighting off poverty and an
overdue board bill, and who, just as
he was expecting the knock of the
landlord with the eviction notice, re
ceived Instead a rail by a messenger
advising him that he had been award
ed the Prix de Rome. This is a prize
given by the Americun Academy,
which carries with it a three years’
course of art study and $1,000 to pay
the bills. At the same time came to
him a good block of financial help
from the Tiffany Foundation. If the
farmer had waited three hours he
would huve gotten a rain that would
have meant as much to him as the
prize meant to the poor urtist. It is
a pity that he lacked the courage of
the artist—a pity that he had
greater faith In the operation of the
laws of compensation—that he could
not bring himself into acceptance of
the theory that ail things work out
right for those who persevere and do
not give way to despair. There are
mighty few mortals into whose lives
there do not come moments when all
seems dark and forbidding, but how
ever dark the clouds may seem they
are but fleeting. It is the course at
human experience thut the clouds are
sure to break—it is only to be aw'aited
in faith and patience. The need of the
day among the people—and it was
never more pressing than now among
he farmers—is courage, determina-
ion, optimism and faith. The prospect
muy appear gloomy, hut it Is no time
to give up. “Woe he to fearful hearts
ami faint hands!” It Js for the farm
er to “go to it,” and laugh. The Idea
was happily, even If poetically, con
veyed by W. H. Stark of Orange. Tex-
in a recent contribution to the Manu
facturers Record. It came too late to
inspire the New Jersey farmer, but
it might operate In encouragement of
others to “Jog along. Jehosaphat.”—

THE UNIVERSAL CAR
Runabout with self-starter, F. O. B. Thomasville, filled with gas and oil $530.56.
If your salesmen spend unproductive time going from prospect to
prospect, because of slow transportation, it is money lost. Slow
transportation robs them of part of their time—time that might just
as well be turned into sales.
A Ford Runabout furnishes quick transportation at the lowest
possible cost. By equipping your salesmen with Ford cars, you
will enable them to devote more energy to selling goods. *
