OUR BOYS MUST KNOW.
The hoys that drop out before
completing their education are
not always the ones that regret
their misstep. — Thomaaviile
Times Eu'.erprlse.
We should say everbody whose
hopes of the future usefulness of that
boy, though. liaB cause for regret
When 'that boy, because of his limi
tations. falls out of the running when
the rare becomes hottest, when com
petition becomes keenest. And that
day comes to every man, not one
time, but many tlnjes. There is no
investment for the hoy that will half
way compare with the finished educa
tion.
We have men who love to refer ua
to the few whe climbed from the low
to the highest stations in life without
an education. Let the boy remember
that these are exceptions. Only the
well educated as a rule attain the
highest of success. Forty thousand
educated men rise where only one
uneducated climbs above the average
usefulness.
The boy never understands what
he wants to do in life till be is educat
ed. He never rubs Intellect with the
problems of life till he is educated.
He never sees beyond the heights of
life's foothills till he is trained to look
far into history, far into the ages to
come with a discerning eye and mind
No matter who leads him, he cannot
take lessons from those who have
gone with tito issues and atrugglei of
the past until he Is trained to make
comparisons. He cannot even view
the future with a discerning mind till
be has been taught to profit -by what
other men have done and said in the
ages that have brought civilization up
to present standards.
Our boys must know that they are
to play minor parts in life's drama
without completed education. Noth*

more than 2.200 miles long and
equivalent to that of the Eastern

Florida and to Mobile.
“Since Queensland is located In the
southern hemisphere, Its hot regions
are to the north, its 1 cooler regions to
the south. Its northernmost projec-

Cape York is much closer to the

have to be shoved some 1200 miles
farther south until Key West touched
the Isthmus of Panama If Australia
could be .towed to our part of the

with the regions we know, It would
have to be turned about so that the

the combined areas of all states east
of the Mississippi and Ohio rivers

extending from Maine to Florida.

its mildest region climatically.
Thanks to its mountains which par

state is not as hot as its latitude
would indicate. The far northern sec

not been developed to any great ex

Brisbane, the capital is about the size
of Bridgeport, Connecticut, or Hous
ton, Texas. The state’s population of
about three-quarters of a million —
approximately that of Oregon—is al-
most wholly of British origin.
“The development or the tropical
portions of Queensland has been slow
er than that of similar regions in oth
er parts of the world because of the
determination of the citizens of the
state and of the entire Commonwealth
to maintain a ‘white. Australia.’ The
black and yellow races have'been ex

black aborigines remain in the state
