WELCOME, NUT GROWERS
The National Nut Growers conven

will continue through the fifth of
October. A very Interesting program
baa been prepared and will be carried
through in the effective manner, which
is characteristic of this organization.
Thomasville has entertained these
fellows before, in fact we are old and
teat friends and it is with sincere
pleasure that we greet them again.
Not only do we realize their innate
worth and sincerity of purpose but we
learned to appreciate the great

they have no recourse.

National Geographic Society from
its Washington D. C., headquarters
“It is located where the River Shan

of Tipperary," continues the bulle
tin. “The portion of the river im

from its origin, far to the north,
through ten counties, widening into
stretches of placid lake along which
boats sail as far as the ford of his

notables, such as Kudyard Kipling,
George du Maurier, Gelett Burgess

hands at penning it. It is said that
the composition of limericks origi

crowd of people gathered together
r a pleasant evening in the Irish
wn. Each person was supposed to
impose a stanza in turn, and the
blowing chorus was sung after
each new rhyme in order to give the
next contributer time to get his
limerick ready:
"Oh, won’t you come up, come up,
come up.
Oh, won’t you come up to Limerick?
Oh, won’t you come, come all the
way up,
Come all the way up to Limerick?"

The bells of Limerick are famous for
their beautiful tone. The story runs
that they were made many years
ago in Italy by a young bell maker,
who after years of toil perfected a
set of bells the purity of whose
tone satisfied his critical ear.
They were hung in a nearby cos.
vent, but during a war the bells
were carried away and no one knew
of tbeir whereabouts. j
"Misfortune fell upon the belL j
maker and be wandered far from '
