Cordele, On., Oct. 21.—Cordelo made
the football game with Tifton a high
ly enthusiastic event and gave the
visitors quite a lively tilt Friday aft
ernoon, though the locals lost
game to the visitors 20 to 12. The lo
cal Klwanlt club was sponsor for the
youngsters. This gave added zeal,
and the localt scored first. But Tif-
tlon has a better team and bad the vie.
tory at the end. This Is Cordele High’i

Offertory--“Chant Negro.” - Kram-
Plunkett's and Madison fought a real
battle yeaterday afternoon
track gridiron on Gordon avenue. The
locals were outweighed about twenty-
five pounds by actual figures, bat they
knew more about football and played
a snappier game than their opponents.
The score was fourteen to thirteen in
favor of the visitors.
“'The game started off with the Plun
kett lads making their way to a touch
down very rapidly. When four yards
from the goal there was a fumble and
the touchdown was prevented. Later
In the first period, Joe Norton, the
Boston half baclf with Plunkett, skirt
ed the Madison end for a goal, making
a spectacular thirty-yard
Madison then came back strong and
with straight line plungea made
touchdown, the full back, Harley, bt
Ing credited with about nine-tenths of
itance. He plunged like a steam
engine and his 190 pounds 'counted
heavily against the light Plunkett
line. The locals came back, however,
in the third, and Norton again dis
tinguished himself with a ten-yard
around, end, following-eeveraLgaina of
similar distance in similar plays. The
right half-back of the Madison
also clipped off one of the niftiest end
for thirty-five yards and a touch-;
down, llarley buck-d the line for the
extra point and the one
game, for Mays attempted placement
kick after the first touchdown had
been blocked.
Both teams got In bad
caslons but the locals completely out
classed the visitors in open field work
generalship. The work of Her-
bert Scott at tackle was' especially
good In the latter part ot the gatbe.
He broke through the heavy Madison
line several times, throwing the
ners far a loss. Joe Norton was the
particular bright offensivi
the Plunkett aggregation and played
iplendld game throughout. The
triple pass end run of Plunkett never
failed to gain with Norton and Groov-
. carrying the ball. It was perfectly
;ecntod - and made the visitors look
foolish. ...
The game - threatened to be yoite
vely for a time when penalties were
inflicted and head tackling, crawling
few other ueopbitic processes
ttempted hy the visitors, and
later partly in retaliation by the locals.
Madison was within a yard of goal at
when It was penalized five j or Society. Subjei
yards and failed to score. This caused j Worship.” Learfei
