recently by large shipments of chain*
pagnes' and wines from France and
Spain which, however, find no ready
sale here. The wine shops of Eng*
land are already overstocked with
pre-war vintages which the merchants
consequently American, British,
French and Belgian interests are tak
ing notice.
The Independence Ronmaine an
nounced recently that a well known
construction company of New York
had made an qffer to the government
for state oil lands in exchange for an
undertaking to supply the state with
all petrol and derivatives, necessary
for internal consumption, at a very
low cost. Other similar offers have
been made to the government by
other interests and, according to an
official announcement, “they all will
be considered.**
