The sale which started today at th<
■tore formerly occupied by the Ferrlll
furniture store, on South Broad street
was a great success in every way.
When tbs doors opened at 9:30 o'clock,
there was a crowd In front that
blocked the streets and so great
the inrlsh that the doors were locked
and the crowd hold out in part, until
those shopping bad a chance to get
their goods and get out. All through
the day the place has been crowded
and large quantities of merchandise
have been sold. Mr. Carver, who is
handling the sale, states that he
thoroughly satisfied with the reaulta
Mr. Carver represents Frledlander
Brothers of Moultrie, and expects to
continue the store permanently here,
handling a line of very attractive and
saleable merchandise at reasonable
prices. There are more than twenty
clerks attending the trade at the store
today. The stock Is partly that owned
by B. Lubln, which waa sold In bank
rupt proceedings, augmented by otbet
merchandise.

Christmas Pageant At
Allen Normal 8chool—
A Christmas pageant, "The Light ot
the World,” by H. Augustine Smith,
will be given by Allen Normal School,
December fifteenth, at 8 o’clock.
There will be processions In costume,
effective lighting, striking tableaux
and singing of Christmas carols. All
friends of the school are invited

To Organise Intermediate
Christian Endeavor—
There will be an Intermediate Chrle
tlan Endeavor Society organised in
the Presbyterian church Sunday after
at 4 o'clock. All boys and girls
between the ages ot twelve and six
teen, are asked to come and Join, not
only of the church, but any boys and
girls that do not go to any young pea
pies' society.

To Discuss Neighbors—

throughout the season and carried

Women Voters—
The League of Women Voters calls
attention to the fact that state and
county taxes, Including poll tax, must
be paid before December 20th. Women
have no property In their own
i, must call at Mr. Heeth's office
at the court house, and pay a poll tax
ot one dollar before the expiration of
this date.
Failure to pay this poll tax before
December 20th, Involve* an additional
tax, which muat be paid before one
has the privilege of voting In the com
ing primary.

Boston to Have a
Municipal Election—
Boston Is to hold her municipal
election Monday, December 11th, and
the town Is said to bo full of politics
and everything heated up.
There are two candidates for mayor,
three for city marshal, two for clerk,
eight for aldermen, and five for the
school board.
Messrs. J. J. Parramore and W. T.
Mardre, the candidates for mayor, are
both prominent citizens and their
friends are preparing to put up a big
fight. The three candidates for man
shal are Tom Evans, D. E. Wood and
J. A. Honea. For clerk, H. L. Groover
and S. W. Brooks. For the board ol
education. In addition to several
who have announced, there are ti
dies, Mrs. E. L. McKinnon and Mra

Balnbrldge Women Visit
Vashtl School-
On Wednesday, thirty-three
hers of the Women's Mlaaionary So
clety of Balnbrldge, vlalted the Vashtl
Home. These ladies were shown
through the entire Institution and giv
en the opportunity to Inspect every
thing connected with Its conduct and
management. They expressed them
selves as highly delighted and there
were many expressions of commenda
tion and approval of this Institution,
which has done, and Is doitg, such a
great work for girls In giving them an
opportunity for education and render-

Christmas Seal* On 8al»—
The Christmas Seals are on sale,
with booths In Neel’a store and a
postofflce. The booth* are In charge
of Mrs. Sidney Fleming and Miss
Hattie Brandon. Next week the Girl
Scouts will take up the sale also, and
