COLUMBIA GRAPHOPHONES
TESTED OUT FOR TONES
It is seldom indeed, that one not
directly engaged in the task is per
mitted to be present when a Columbia
record is being made, because of the
poasibility of marring the original
master record by unexpected or
extraneous noise. The recording
machine is so sensitive, according to
Moore Music Co., local Columbia
dealer, that it registers the slightest
“iund. At one recording recently,
special courtesy was extended to
distinguished guest, and he was
permitted to witnesa the making of a
record. -
The number was being qpng with
remarkable success by an artist of
international fame, when the guest
dropped his cane’ which fell with a
clatter to the floor. The sound was
registered before the Instrument
could be stopped, and it was necessary
to remake the entire record.
