ALLEGE,
There is universal regret throughout
the state at the death of Judge Lump
kin of the Georgia Supreme court. He
was a citizen of the "best type, a wise
and equitable judge and his place will
be difficult to fill.

Each week the Atlanta Journal con
tain a columns otbright Bealerisms from
the trenchant pen , of our new Baptist
pastor. 'He is already imbued with the
true ThomasviUe spirit, as shown by the i
following: ’]
"I am beginning to feel at home in j
ThomasviUe. I have been here two ,
weeks and the reception extended to me ’
has been so cordial that I have begun to ,
look upon this as home.
The Baptists are a progressive people
here. They have the most desirable lo
cation for a church in the city. It is
only a stone’s throw from four hotels
and just across the street from the court
house.
In many places in Georgia I have :
been unable to locate the Baptist meeting
house on acoount of its inaccessibility. :
Our forefathers were in mdre senses
than one a “peculiar” people. They
were very peculiar about locating their
meeting houses. If some feUow owned
a lot that was on the edge of the jump
ing off place, and he oiraldn’t get rid of
it in any other w»7 he gave it to the
Baptists and they proceeded to erect a
house of worship there. They spent
the balance of their lives in regretting
the mistake.
But we are getting over that. AUover
the state our people are erecting new
houses of worship and they are being
put in central locations. ThomasviUe
Baptists were very wise in their selec
tion of a site. How they are preparing
to build on a nice lot adjoining the
church, a handsome postorinm for the
use of the preacher and his family.

The weather? Well I liave been very
agreeably surprised. We had three very
warm days when I first came, but they
were simply caused from that unusually
warm spell you had in Atlanta. Since
then the weather has been as pleasant as
it is in Atlanta or anywhere else. There

very pleasant.
