and he was very, sorry that he could not

and changed to rain. We have had the
hardest winter here, that is in the New

railroad bridge over the Connectiontt
river, between New Londen and New
Haven will ,be carried away when the
ice breaks in the river aa there is more
ice in the river than waa ever known
before.

' On Tuesday morning Mr. W. F.
Kaufman and Rev. J. W. Davis who
livo in the Oak Hill neighborhood found
thut some one had been playing havoc
with their belongings. Mr. Davie’bug
gy and 8 horses had been taken from
the stable and driven hard. Two of the
horeee had been put back in the sam^
stall, and one hone had been badly
kicked by the other. Mr. Kaufman’s
buggy was left in the road in front of
Mr. Knapp's restdenoe, some distance
from hie home.
Both vehicles were filled with chick
en feathers. The perpetrators' of the
