The following interesting story accom
panies the photographs:
Mr. J. Wyman Jones, a citizen of
Thomaarille, has recently given 15,000
for the erection of a suitable memorial
to his own class (1811) in Dartmouth
college. This sum Is now in the hands
of Judge David Croesi of Manchester,
N. H., one of Mr. Jones’ classmates, and
Dr. W, J. Tucker, president of Dart
mouth pollege, to be expended by them
in the erection of some suitable me-
" mortal of the distinguished class of
* which Mr. Jones was a member. As
, Dartmouth is soon to erect a fine new
building to be culled “Webster hall,”
; in honor,of Daniel Webster, its greatest
- alumnus, the proposed memorial could
appropriately be made a feature of
i “Webster hall,” possibly a bronze tab
let appropriately placed bearing the
I namoofeach member of the class of
1811. Mr. Jones' request has been that
this tablet slutll bear the simple inscrip
tion. “Erected in 1904, in loving re
membrance of I he class of 1811, at Dart
mouth, by one of the class.” He is one
of the six snrviviog members of the
class, which numbered seventy-eight.

! J. Wyman Jones was well acquainted
with Daniel Webster and was a class
mate of Edward Webster, who was kill-

a great expounder of the constltntion.
Mr. Jones is naturally proud of Ids alma

Jonesfgradnated in /the class of 1811
from Dartmouth.
Successful beyond the common lot of
men, all his life a bnilder and oreator of,
conditions, a gentleman of the old school,
courtly in manner, royal in hospitality,
holding high place in the esteem and af-
faction of his friends, he has been for
sixteen years a citizen of Georgia. ,
