originator and founder of the Georgia
Industrial Home, located at Macon, the

arises, who will take his place? The
work in which he has eugaged-and for

character. What he understood he did

Trustees Buy Strawbridge Lot on Gor
don Ave. For City Hospital.
The trustees of the City Hospital yes
terday purchased the Strawbridge lot,
on Gordon Ave., opposite J. S. Bailey’s
home, as a site for the new hospital
building. The price paid was $2,000.
The lot contains 3 5-2 acres and will le
a splendid site for the hospital.
It is a spacious . tract, ' well-wooded,
high and dry, and is in every way adapt
ed for the purpose intended. It is in
the best residence portion of the sub
urbs and is convenient to all points.
Sufficient funds are on hand, and will
be raised to erect a creditable building
and in the near future Thomasville will
have a oity hospital to be proud of.

Mr.' S. Steyerman Will Build a Fifty
Foot Addition.
Mr, S. Steyermau has material on the
ground for a fifty foot addition to liis
store on Broad street. The addition
will be a continuation of the pretent
building, and of the same width, built
of brick.
It will be used by the Steyermau Com
pany in their business. On the first of
November the company wili give up
the room next to the National Bank now
occupied by the grocery and supply de
partment, and these lines will be contin
ued in the new room. The old store
room has already been rented to another

to all expectations aud defeated Madison
to-day by the overwhelming score of 18
to 0. The battery for Thomasville was
Maynard and Dickinson, for Madisor
Andercon and McClellan. Maynard

the lot. Pate and Groover both made

The first annual convention of the
Thomas County Sunday School Asso
ciation, to be held at Boston on Sacnr- -
day and Sunday Ang. 27tl» and 28th
bids fair to be a great success. The
Boston people have taken hold of 4t en
thusiastically and are preparing to en
tertain the convention in the hospitable
way that is so characteristic of Boston.
Entertainment will be provided for
all delegates, and it is earnestly reques
ted that tlie secretary of every Sunday
school in the county send the names
of his school's delegates to Mr. ^
Parramore. Delegates must be elected
next Sunday in all schools where they
have not hlrendy been chosen and their
names sent to Mr. Parramore at Boston
not later than the following day..

Hon Fondrien Mitchbll returned from
Atlantaiyesterday. Ho is not well yet
from his'Jsickness, but is considerably
improved.
Mrs. S. M. Ball has purchased through
M. Mallette, the real estate dealer, a
lot on Washington street between Oak
and West street and will immediately
build several tenant houses on it.
Young Man Violent,
Mr. Hugh Gordy it confined in the
Jail here awaiting trait next week ^tij
the charge of lunacy. Hr. Gordy is
from Oeldoekneo and is a most excellent
young man. It is hoped that hia trouble
is only temporary aud will soon yield to
treatment at tlie State Sanitarium.
Mrs. Ella Mallette, Mia, Kellie and
Miss Annie Pringle, and Mr. E. M.
Mallette leave at eleven o’clock tide
morning for St. Lotus where they
spend two weeks.
