Rawlings' Cases Will go to Supreme
Court and Execution Is Stayed.
Atlanta, Ga., Dec. 18.—The case
of J. G. Rawlings and hit boys,
charged with the murder of th* Car
ter children, will be carried before
the United State* Supreme Court on
a writ of error granted to John R.
Cooper of Macon, by Chief Juatlce
Fish of the Supreme Court Saturday
afternoon.
Attorney Cooper'* pie* ~ was that
there were no names of lawyers, doc
tors or preachers In the Jury boxes
from which the trial Juries were
drawn. The writ granted by Jus
tice Fish will involve a stay of pro
ceeding* until after the 8upreme
Court ha* passed outhe case.
Th* basis for the appeal was the
act of the Jury commissioners of
Lowndes county In excluding all law
yers, physicians, preachers and rail
road firemen from the Jury box.
The Rawlins,-’ attorney claims
that thia was llleiwl and that all Jur
ors chosen under It are Illegal.
