THREE CLOSE
* IN CONTEST
If. M. C. A,
^ and Vasliti Home
Are leaders.
With the total rote now iffregit
ioc more than 10,000, to say nothing
of aeraral thonaand votes that are
held oat, the sixth and greatest votng
contest of the Tlmes-Entcrprlso is
now well under way. .
The three leaders are the Young
Ken's Christian Association the City
Hospital, and the Vaahtl Home In the
order named. These three are sep
arated by less than four hundred
votes, showing that already the rival
ry has taken on a keen edge. The
friends of each are determined that
their favorite shall receive that cash
donation as a Christmas gift. That
the gift will be a. very substantial
one Is evidenced by the magnitude of
the contest already reached.
It is needles* to say that the good
work of any of the three would be
greatly forwarded by the reoelpt of
the gift, and all are very close to the
hearts of Tbomasvllle people. The
'Vaahtl Home was the winner la the
contest last year and recleved a pi
ano. Tbe same earnest work on the
part of Its friends Is being done this
year, which some people are inclined
to translate as a sign of another vic
tory this year. But on the other hand
equally confident claims are put
forth by the supporters of the .other
two institutions, who claim that the
good things of this life should pass
aronnd.
But these three leaders are not the
only oms to be reckoned with. All
Lrpt the other contestants have'lw-'
f reived good sited additions to their
totals, and will be In at the finish.
Though their totals are behind .the
others they are still being voted for,
and there are rumors of still others
to come into the race;
