. most Interesting that has been held
fa a Ion* time. For the first time Dr.
It. J. Miller was in the chair acting
as secretary.
Visiting Committee Report.
The visiting committee for the
past month had a very Interesting re
port to make to the board. Messrs.
. ■ H. W. Hopkins and Wright reported
that they had made a thorough in.
■ • spectlon of the schools and found
them In splendid shape. While at
the white school the building was
thoroughly Inspected and the com-
mlttee recommended that some of
the doors which now open Inward be
* changed so as to open outward.
There were but two or three of
these. While there the fire drill was
given at very short notice and all
the children were out of the building
in one minute and a half. This Is a
1 record that any school In the state or
the country could well be proud of
and shows remarkable training on
• the part of the teachers.
Improvements Nearly Finished.
The extensive Improvements that
were contracted for the latter part
of last year have been almost com
pleted. There vns some delay on ac
count of unsatisfactory fixtures being
sent by the manufacturers. The ar
chitect Is hers and will Inspect thor
oughly the whole Job this week and
make bis report. After this is done
the work will be Inspected by the
building committee and ttten accep
ted. Mr. Wright the chairman ol
that committee made the report.

An alarm was sent in to the fire
department yesterday morning at
eleven thirty from a email negro
house on the corner of Calhoun and
Hardaway streets. The run was a
long ono but the department arrived
In time to be of some assistance.
There was just a small blaze on the
roof and several negroes were trying
to put It out when tho firemen came.
A line of hose was run and the
extinguishers brought out but, there
was no use for either as It could he j tr8

Promptly at two o’clock court was
convened by the Judge and the trial
of the docket commenced. T&ere
are many cases on this Spring dock

over from other terms- The first case
to be tried was that of state vs Ade
line Plumber, charged with selling
Intoxicating liquors. After the usual
examination of witnesses and speech
es by Hon. Theo. Titus, who repre
sented the defendent and Solicitor
Luke for the state, the case was giv
en to the Jury. They were unable
to come to a verdict and at six
o’clock were dismissed and the case
declared a mistrial.
Jim Middleton waB tried for car
rying concealed weapons and he was
represented by Attorney Titus. This
case went to the Jury and after only
a few minutes deliberation they
brought In a verdict of not guilty.

Kidney trouble has
become so prevalent
that it is not uncom
mon for a child to be
born afflicted with
weak kidneys. If the
child urinates too often, if the unke scalds
the flesh, or if, when the ohild reaches an
age when it should be able to control tke
passage, it is yet afflicted with bed-wet
ting, depend upon it, the cause of the diffi
culty is kidney trouble, and the first
step should be towards the treatment of
these important organs. This unpleasant
trouble is due to a diseased condition of
the kidneys and bladder and not to a
habit as most people suppose.
Women as well as men are made miser
able with kiduey and bladder trouble,
and both need the same great remedy.

Great Game at the Y. M,
nrday Night.
A. Sat-
The two teams ot Young’s Colleeg
played a great game ot basket ball at
the Y. M. C. A. Saturday night. The
teams had named themselves for the
two colors ot the college, Grays an<1
Garnets. Both teams showed a re _
markable ability to play the popular
game, and clearly demonstrated the
proficiency of thetr coaching.
Their improvement since the last
game with Tallahassee has been
marked and with a few more weeks'
practice a team selected from this
talent should make a good showing
igafnst the Floridians. The play was
swift and clean, both sides making
some very fine throws for goal.
The teams were even up to the last
few minutes of play when first one
and then the other would forge
ahead. At the call of time the score
stood 15 to 14 in favor of the Grays.
The personel of the two teams
was as follows:

E. Hopkins Center E. Warrington
D. Gunn Forward G. Mitchell
May Thompson Forward L, Rath
Eva Crovatt Guard F. VanBrunt
F. Roberts Guard A Tomllson

BASKETBALL GAME "XT V. M. C. A
Won by the Tigers After Hot Contest
Puts Them in the Lead.
The game of basket ball at the Y.
M. C. A, was one of the best of the
season. The play was clean aud
quick but there were very few goals
thrown, most of the points being
made on bouls. The Tigers won the
contest from the Cubs by a score of
fifteen to fourteen.
There was doubt as tc the outcome
of the game until the referee whis
tle was blown for time. At the end
of the drat half the score stood one
p'-nt In favor of tho Tigers and 11
was alternating this way all the V->'
through with but one or two points
difference.
The standing of the teams In the
race for the pennant Is as follows:

Tigers 0 4 668
Cubs C 3 500
