A startling incident, is narrated by
John Oliver, of Philadelphia, as follows :
"I was in anawfnl condition. My skin
was almost yellow, eyes sunken, tongue
coated, pain continually in back and
sides, no appetite, growing weaker day
bv day. Threephysioians had given me
np. Then I was advised to nse Electric

made a deoided improvement. I con

Freak Calculation.
Wo all liko to puzzle our brains over
things which give certain and strange
results, but which we cannot explain.
Here’s a puzzle that puzzles everybody.
Take the number of your living broth
ers. double the amount, add to it three,
multiply the result by five, add to it
the number of living sisters, multiply
the result by ten. add to It the number
of deaths of brothers and sisters, sub
tract 150 from the result. The right
hand figure will be the number of
deaths, the middle figure the number
of living sisters and the left the num
ber of living brothers.—Canton Satur
day Roller.
Look well to their record. What they
have done many times in years gone by
is the bast guarantee of future result
Any one with a bad back, any reader
suffering from urinary troubles, from
any kidney ills, will find in the follow
ing evidence proof that relief and cure is
near at hand:
Mr. G. M. Myers, the well-known
shoemaker at Winchester avenue and
14th street, Ashland, Ky., says : “Doan's
Kidney Pills are like true friends, the
longer you know them the better they
are appreciated. I can add nothing to
the statement I first made in 1896 after
I procured the remedy at the Ventura
Drug Oo., and took a course of the treat
meDt which cured me. I was absolutely
free from all backache for nearly three
years then I noticed a slight ache as the
result of a cold in my back. A box of
Doan’s Kidney Pills disposed of it. I
have recommended this remedy to many
and have never heard of one who did
not endorse the claims made fox it.”

permit me to siy that your correspon
dent is in error as to school population
of the county.
The last school census taken shows
that at that time there were in theccnu
ty 814 white aud 1,493 colored children
between ages of 6 to 18 years. From
this it may be seen that the per centage
of enrollment and average daily attend
ance of the two races does not material
ly differ- It must be remembered, also,
that the per centage of attendance for
1902 is based ou a school term of six | thoroughly
months instead of five months as in pre- j h**ard of, B
vious years.
While it is to be deplored that so
many parents stem to feel 60 little in
terest in the education of their children, Smith & Bro , and

year, for which twelve reports have been ;
received, the enrollment has been,
while 644, colored 875, with average
daily attendance of whites 418, colored
6sl. This at least shows ail increase of
interest in the regular daily attendance.
With the assurance from our county
boird of education that teachtrs will
be paid promptly at the end of each
liunth, and that every community that
will keep the average daily at : endance
above a fixed minimum, shall have a
nine mouths trrm, we may confidently
expect better results.

A Sweet Breath
is a never failing sign of a healthy stom

in the world equal to Kodol Dyspepsia
Oare for caring indigestion, dyspepsia
and all stomach disorders. Mrs. Mary
8. Crick, of White Plains, Ky., writes:
“I have been a dyspeptio for years—tried
all kinds of remedies bnt continued to

gan to improve at once, and after taking
a few bottles am folly restored in
