THE CAR SICK HORSE
"I am pleased to give my
experience with wine of
Cardui as I am very grateful
for Its help. After my first
baby was born Z could not
seem to regain my strength,
although the doctor gave me
atonic which he considered
very superior, but instead of
getting better I grew weaker
every day. My husband
came home one evening with
some Wine of Cardui and in
sisted that I take it for a week and see
what it would do for me. As he seemed
to have so much faith in it I did take the
1 medicine and was very grateful to find
my strength slowly returning. In two
weeks I was out of bed and in a month I
was able to take up my usual duties. I
am very enthusiastic in its praise.”
|« - iOTHERIIOOD is the noblest duty
IP'1I &n 'l highest privilege women
U *J can achieve or aspire to. With
out this privilege women do not
get all there is in life—too often they
go through the world discontented,
wrapped un in their own selfish cares
and troubles. How different is toe
happy mother, watching her children
grow into manhood and womanhood.
A mother lives as many lives as she has
children—their joys and sorrows are
hen, as are their ambitions,
triumphs and defeats.
Healthy women do not suf
fer miscarriage nor does
a woman who is healthy
suffer tortures at childbirth.
It is the woman who is ail
ing—who has female weak
ness—who fears the ordeal
of becoming a mother. Wine
of Cardui builds up the wo
manly in a woman. It stops
all unnatural drains and
strains—irregularities which are re
sponsible for barrenness and miscar
riage. It makes a woman strong and
healthy and able to pass through preg
nancy and childbirth with little suffer
ing. After the ordeal is passed the
Wine prepares a woman for a speedy
recovery to health and activity.
Wine of Cardui, in re-inforcing the
organs of generation, has made mothers
of women who had given up hope of
everbecomingmothers. WinoofCardui
will cure almost any case of barrenness
except cases of organic trouble. How
can you refuse to take such a remedy
that promises such relief from suffering?
Wine of Cardui simply makes you a
strong woman, and strong, healthy
women do not suffer. They look for
ward to motherhood with joy.
WINE of CARDVI
A million suffering women
have found relief in
Wine of Cardui.

The Italian peasant girl as soon as

American visitors In Paris, Berlin or
Vienna often wonder how and where
correspondents do their work. The
truth is a large part of their work Is
done at these very social gatherings
where you have met them. Important
news is usually there obtainable only.
Statesmen and diplomats, r^ierals and
admirals, leaders of thought'Pad action,
the foremost men of business and the
indefatigable promoters of great new
ventures- all the men and women, in
fact, who make the news and who arc
the fountain head of it—the correspond
ent will meet there. It depends on his
individual exertions and on his tact
and gift of persuasion what use he
makes of his opportunities. Being
treated as a social equal, it devolves of
course on the correspondent to recipro
cate favors shown, not in quantity per
haps, hut at least in quality. The lead
ing correspondents must have homes of
comfort anil must throw them open to
the otlieial and unofficial world at stat
ed intervals, say three or four times
per season. Their private fortunes or
their incomes must lie large enough to
admit that. Their annual expenditures
cannot he less than $5,000 and may ex
ceed $15,000. The London Times, for
instance, pays its correspondents on a
liberal scale, salaries of $5,000 to $10,-
000 being the rule. Yet tlie majority
of them find it necessary to make up
regular deficiencies in their exchequer
out of their own private funds.
The life of the American correspond
ent on the continent of Europe is a life
Interesting and fascinating enough in
its way, and it broadens the mental
horizon as perhaps no other occupa
tion does. But it is a nerve destroying
life, a life in which there is scarcely a
minute he can call his very own. Ev
ery day in the year it spurs its slave on
to utmost exertion. It barely pa}'s ex
penses, an<l it necessitates constant
outlays in time and money which can
not he put down In the expense ac
count and which are a drain on health
anil purse alike. Even under the most
favorable circumstances the game is
hardly worth the caudle. To go to hod
at 2 or 3, fagged out with never end
ing excitement ami toil; to bo waked
