The current topics section of the Ath
ens Woman's Club will meet at Mrs.
Hill’s residence on the campus this af
ternoon at hve o'clock, Mibb Parna Hill,
hostess. All who attend are asked to
bring short topics to discuss.
The Scenic Railway is getting ready
for Friday. There will be no free rides
on the street cars, but everything else
will be free for fifty cents including re
freshments and more than a half dozen

Tuesday evening at the rectory on
Prince avenne occurred the marriage of
Prof. U. II. Davenport, of the Univer
sity of Georgia, and Mrs. Sallie Fleming
Licy. of this city. Rev. Troy Beatty
officiating. The marriage had been set
for the summer, but the date was ad
vanced and the many friends of the con
tracting parties were taken completely
by surprise when the wedding was an-
nrunced as having taken place Tuesday
evening.
Mr Dkvenport is one of the most pop
ular of the yoauger professors of the
University, being adjunct professor in
the department of physics and electri
cal engineering. His bride is a daugh-
t- r of the late Mr. Thomas Fleming and
belongs to one < f the most prominent
families of the city. Prof, and Mrs.
Dkvenport have received the congratu
lations of their many friends.

uected by an electric road.
The Ever tt-Moore Syndicate, of Tole
do, Ohio, represented by Mr. James
Morgan, is takirg steps in that direc
tion
Mr. Morgan was in Athens a few days
since in consultation with a few of oar
leading citizens He was not ready to
meet with the Athens Chamber of Com
merce just then, bnt said that in a short
while he would be in shape to talk to
the people of Athens aul tell them
what he desired at their hands.
He spoke of the proposed electric rail
way between Athens and Caruesville as
a practical certainty, and it is believed
to be such by those who have kept in
touch with tho situation.
