There must have been some 30,000 old soliers in the city. He saya the whole country is drowned out by rains and the beat crop prospects he saw during his trip were be tween the Seaboard depot in Athens and his home on Oglethorpe avenue. Hon. L- C. Brown says some of the old soldiers complained that they were extorted upon in New Orleans. Mr. Elder says he knows nothing about this as he paid his own way- Himself and a friend paid |7 a day for a room with bath and meals cost from 75 cents to $1 for good fare.
