Ext rein o early sending of wjieut
is not desirable it was shown, due
to liability of injury from Hes
sian Fly, but seeding from October
fifteenth to the twentieth in the
northern part of the state has
given yields nearly twice as high
as seeding on November the fif
teenth.
The dates of seeding at the. Tif-
ton Experiment Station have not
been the same every year hut from
the data It was evident that need
ing by November 'first is much
safer than later seeding. Late
seedings sometimes give fair yields {
but cannot be counted on every
year find the earlier seedings give j
much better yields on the average, j
The January first and February
first seeding In 1923 were a total
failure.
Appier and Rilghum are two of
tho highest yielding varieties but
pure seed of either will give much
higher yields than mixed seed.
Tho Appier Is usually more re
liable, but the Fulgbum la a-de
sirable oat on account of its easi
ness.
In the southern part of the state
the Appier appears,to/have a de
cided .advantage most years,
ghum* Oats gavo practically the
same results.
