Mr. Henry who operates a truck
farm on the Jefferson road says
since the r»th of May he has sold
at the curb market $600 worth of
produce from three acres and this
did not include chickens, butter
or anything except stuff grown on
that patch. He has now for sale

Jack Oliver, with Miller Urns
•shows, says ho has heard of Athens
curb market all over CJcorgln, and
was anxious to see it In operation
while in the city. That curb mar
ket is a splendid advertisement ?
for our city and as also for tribu
tary country.
A indy from Franklin county
tells US that her husband lost nil
lie had and was in debt buying high
priced land during boom times, lfa
rrowed **50 from a bank and
moving into the country began
tiuck farming and bartering with
his neighbors for country produce.
This they have sold nt our curb
market, and it ••nablrd them 16
pull through. It Is simply run
ning a community truck to Athens j
f<»r she collects and brings to mar
ket produce for the neighboring |
farmer*. This lady now does ait
of her trading in Athens, comflng
about forty miles to do so.
Mrs. Troutman tells us that the j
curb market will not be discon
tinued when cold, wintry weather
sets in for she has made arrange
ments with the Messrs Dozier lor
the use of the largo store room on
Clayton street, where the girls
clult exhibit was held last week
And farmers can bring their pro

room will be divided Into booth*
This is a splendid arrangement.

Mr. Roark of Oconee county, says
this yi.ir hf planted peanuts and
well pleased that himself
ami neighbors will plant the pea-
nut next year instead of cotton
Hut bear in mind you cannot grow
peanuts two successive years or,

Mowed down in some legume crop

Mr. Hail of Madison county snyu
the farmers in his section are going

will give them a double profit
ThU is a splendid Idea. Mr. Lat-

Mr. Sorrels a progressive farmer
near ArnoldsviUe, says they wll

next year for man and beast. But
for the od debts farmers would be
on the highway of prosperity. But
give, them (time and they will pay

Mr. Martin who lives near Lintor
Springs and owns several fin*
farms In Ranks and other counties,
says his family for generations
were slave-owners nnd other
counties, says hi* family for gen-
orations were slave owners, but the
emancipation and after the exndu*
of so many negroes were the best
thing* that - could happen for the
South. Had slavery continued w*
would have had an aristocracy
based on the ownership of negroes,
ar.d the poorer class of Southern
whites kept down. The moving of
the negro makes nluce for young
white men, for the)* d<C not have

cheap negro labor-
