While little or no aversion has
been expressed by oppenents of a
bond issue so far as concerns the
improving of Georgia’s education
al system, those who declare
themselves against a public in
debtedness fa? read improvement
are a little uncertain whether the
big fight will occur in the lower
or upper branch of the legisla
ture, inasmuch as a bond issue
proposal heing a constitutional
amendment may be brought up in
apparent to political lookers-on
just what difference it WQuld make
whether it bobbed up in the low
er or upper chamber.
The Confederate pension clause
of the extra call, it is confidently
expected in all quarters, finds lit
tle ui/tspneion among tho members
of the legislature as it Is called
to order. All aol-ns and repre
sentatives seemed agreed that
something should be done to rem
edy tho so-called “soap-wrapper"
condition of the script bill passed
at the last regular session.
As to bonds for educ«tional
purposes, there has beyn no eon-
rerted or even pronounced opposi
tion openly expressed, this .phase
of the call, like pensions, being
overshadowed by a hefty suigeof
opposition to anything in the na
ture of bonds for roadbuildinif. It
is believed by many legislators
that should the governor amend
his call—as he may legally do,
even after the session l % under
way—a sort of “comproml
might result which would amount
to legislative endorsement of pen
sion provision and funds for im
proving Georgia’s educational sys

of course, expeoted that there
will be quite a number of local
bills introduced, but attention has
been called to the fa^t that under
the law of Georgia such measures
must b© advertised for thirty
serves, when - they were making n
hike yesterday, under the leader
ship of MUs Carolyn Vance.
“As we hiked over the hills
and through the Agricultural Col
lege, one of the moat beautiful
places in Athens, we were so
"lad to be together on such a
glorious spring morning, that' we
just couldn't help singing—-all the
cheer, songs that <•«* knew," said
one of this group ev* twenty-five
junior members of the Y. W. C.
A.
“When we stopped for lunch we
had our usual devotional service,
followed by general discussion of
problems which, we as school
girls, must continually meet How
to face each problem squarely;
how to find and give the best;
how to help the other girl with
her problems; what best service
we can do in our community, and
how we can be better citizens so
that we may. later on, hace some
definite part in the affairs of
Athens our home town. These,
and other matters, were talked of.
“But we had the most fun plan
ning for summer vacations at the
Y. W. C. A. camp. Oh, there are
so many things to do out there,
so many, many good times to be
had. It is such a glorious spot
for a camp—so near to town and
yet so secluded—Just ideal for a
girl's camp, where parents and
friends may be invited to share
some of our good times as well as
to get a clearer understanding of
the way the Y. W. C. A. helps us
