Massacri at Fort Chicago.
Some time about the ill of July,
Capt. Heald, who commanded ac
Fort-Chicago, received orders to
fend as many cf the chiefs in his
neighborhood at he coukl collect,
to the grand council at Piqua : in
this fervicc he was unfuccefsful :
however with the affifttnee of a few
traders, feme Indians of fettle oore
were prevailed upon to go. The
party thus made proceeded about
90 miles on their way to P-cua,
where they met Capt. Wells, with
an order from General Hull dire thug
the United States Fabler . to give up
all the goods to the Indians as pre-
Jents ! and the Garrijon to evacuate
the Poft, and march to Fort Wayne
and from thence to Detroit !
On the 13th, both parties arrived
at Chicago, and capt. Herld pre
pared to comply with this order,
