the county of Chenango, came on
the trial of Gen. David Tv piuas,
Treafurer of this Hate, for having, as
alledged in the Indiftoicnt, attempt
ed to bribe Cafper M. Roufe to vote
for the Incorporation of the Bank
of America, in the Senate of this
Scare. The trial lafted with one
hour’s interm ffion only, until Fri
day morning, pad four o’clock/
when the Jury retired and returned
in a few minutes with a verdict of
not guilty.
During the whole of this arduous

by feverai other letters.

from St. Mary's, informs , that col.
Newnan, and his brave affociates, in
the fecsxd attack from the Indians in
Florida „ met them likeJoldiers. The
Indians would not form to give battle ,
but cbofe to Jholter themfelves behind
trees , and bad , from their fuperior
number , completely fucceeded tn fur
rstending col. Newnan who adopted
their plan of warfare , and defeated
them with the kfs of 60 or 70 in kil
led and wounded. His lofs , and the
time of the attack were not known
when our informant left the place ,
who further fates that the Indians
fled with the utmoft precipitancy , and
in all directions. The reinforcement
of 1000 men from the sip country , had
loot arrived previous to the battle.
