necklace, which it is darkly hinted
has before now adorned tbe neck of
the chaste ex-Queen of Spain, was
put up for sale in Paris. It is coins
posed of one hundred and sixty-nine
large Oriental pearis, hastened by a
splendid sapphire, surrounded by
fourteen brilliants, and is supposed
to be worth some §60,000. There
were no bids.
A singular discovery has been
made on board the It vine, a full-
rigged vessel, recently in dry dock at
Rothcrhithe, London. The ship had
recently arrived from Peru, at which
place the body ol a woman was
found imbedded in tbe cargo, which
consisted of soda. The body is in a
good state of preservation, and is
topposeu to be that of a victim of an
earthquake which occurred many
hundred years ago in Peru. Rings
are inserted in the cars.
