dressed the citizens of Jackson coun
ty at Jefferson, snd we are informed

against the flimsy charges of the In

faction of the large audience. He
paid a glowing tribute to the princi
ples of Democracy intermixing it
with historic facts as to wbathad
been accomplished by adherence
thereto, and closed with a stirring
appeal to the people to stand by the
nominee, not fur his bnt the party’s
sake. The Forest New*, in making
a report of the speech, says: “The
impression was very favorable for
him and made him numbers of
