NORTH-EAST GEORGIA,
@SSSTSXT@:
Now that the year 1878 is
dmwiugto u close, I desire to ex
tend my congratulations to the
people of Athens and surrounding
country for the liberal patronage
extended to me iu the past; and
ulthough business, from various
causes, is undergoing almost a fi
nancial crisis, aud the price of our
principal staple is and has been
much depressed, still the people
can congratulate themselves with
the fact that prices of all articles
of trade are correspondingly low,
and while times may seem ratlior
hard yet, when we. consider the
amount we can buy with One
Dollar, being twice tint of two
years ago, and the amount of
grain in the hands of our farmer:
and tho efforts that all arc niakin
to pay their just indebtedness, it
is rather encouraging than other
wise, and I believe the future will
develop a more prosperous aiid
beneficial result fiom our labors.
My business, for the last four
years, has been steadily increasing
and by selling goods at the lowest
living profits, and unceasing dili
gence to business on the part of
my assistants aud myself, I intend
to try to merit a continuance ot
the patronage heretofore ao liber-
