Houston High School Notes.
The Houston High Sellout opened
September 3d with the largest nuiu-
■bor of boarding pupils ever in at-
tendance. A nuiither of eloquent
addresses were delivered at the
opening exercises, which was high
ly instructive and encouruging to
-all the students.

Rev. J J Hyman, the pastor of
the Baptist church, is real ill. We

the legal hours of. sale, to the highest
bidder for cash, on the first Tuesday in
October, 1000, the following property,
to-wit: All that tract or parcel of land
situate lying and being ip the city of
Cordele, and being part of land lot No.
288 in the 10 th district of Dooly county,
Georgia, and known in survey and plat
of said city of Cordele, on file in the
office of the clerk of the superior court
of said Dooly county, as the north-half
of lot No. 20, in block No, 10, in said

Seventh street between. 10th and 11th
avenues. This mortgage being for the
purpose of seouring a debt in the Burn
of $2,160.00 due by said E. Colwell, Jr.,

notes each being dated the 1st day of
December, 1807, and due on the first
day of eaoh month thereafter until the
entire series of one hundred and twen-
ty notes shall have matured; and it be
ing understood and agreed therein that
in case any one of said notes, or any
part of any one of such notes, should
remain unpaid for the space of ninety
days after the same shall have become
due and payable, that is to say, after
the Inpse of ninety days, the entire
debt thereby secured shall become due

of the Atlanta Loan and Investment
Company. The said default having oc
curred and having continued for more
than ninety days the said Atlanta Loan
and Investment Company has declared
the amount due as sworn by said mort
gage and notes, and the above sale is

granted at the March term 1600, of said

before the oourt house door in said
county, on the first Tuesday in October
next, equity of redemption in the fol
lowing lands. All of lot of land No.
117, except fifty aores in northeast cor
ner of said lot containing 1521 acres
more or less. Also 100 acres off of the

gating 252J acres more or less, all in
6th distriot of Dooly county, Ga. There
is a loan due Elizabeth Talmadge of the
state of Massachusetts, of the principal
sum of $825.00 and interest $218,84
making a total of $1,088.84. Also at

southeast corner of the north-half of

assembly of Georgia, and it Is hereby enacted
by authority of the same, that section 1,
article 7, paragraph 1, of the constitution of
Georgia be, and the same Is hereby amended
by Inserting after the word “servloo” In the
18th line, the following words: “or who, by
reason of age and poverty, or Inflrmlty und
poverty, or blindness and poverty are unable
to earn a living for themselves,” so that said
seotlon, when so amended will read asfollows,
to-wlt: “To supply the soldiers who lost a
limb, or limbs in the military service of tho
confederate states, with substantial avtlflolal
limbs, during life; and to moke suitable pro
visions for sneh confederate soldiers ns may
have been otherwlsedlsnbled or permanently
Injured In such service; or who may, by rea
son of age and poverty, or Inflrmlty and pov
erty or Blindness and poverty, ore unable to
provide a living for themselves, and for the
widows of such confederate states, or since
