From information that*'.may.
be relied on, we learn, contrary
to the received opinion of many
persons in this neighborhood,
there are a number of valuable
tra<fts of land in Wayne County ;
worth it is supposed two or three
thousand dollars.
We cannot but congratulate
our fellow citizens on the com
patatively mild temperature of
the present season here, afrer
reading thethermometrical state
ments made in fume of the more
northern states. In the city of
New-York, we have been in
formed, the inhabitants have ex
perienced; within fome weeks
back, an intenftty of heat rather
unulual for the season. In Phi
ladelphia, We. observe, from an
extract of observations made
there, that on the 6th inst. the
Mercury ill Farenheit’s Scale,
from 76 and three-tenths, deg.
before stin rife, had risen at 2
P. M. to the aim oft unparallelled
height of one 100 and three
tenths. And at Norfolk, (fays
the Public Ledger of the 10th
inst.) “We do not remember to
have experienced so warm wea
ther as the iaft three days; yes
terday in many parts of the town
the mercury was up to 97, in a
cool paflage it was from two o’-
clock to five at 95, and at seven
in the evening at 93.’*
