TO PHYSICIANS.
New August 15th, 1868
Allow me to call your attention to my
Preparation of Compound
Extract Buchu.
The component parts are BUCHU
LONG LEAF, CUBEBS, JUNIPER
BERRIES.
Mode of Preparation. —Buchu, in
vacno. Juniper Berries, by distillation, to form a fine
gm. Cubebs extracted by displacement with spirits
spirits obtained from Juniper Berries: very little
sugar is used, and a small proportion of spirit. It is
more palateable than any now in use.
Buchu, as prepared by Druggists, is of alight color.
It is a plant that emits its fragrance ; the action of a
flame destroys this (its active nrinoiple,) leaving a
dark and glutinous decoction. Mine is the color’of
ingredients. The Buchu in my preparation predomi
nates; the smallest quantity of the other ingredients
are added, to prevent fermentation ; upon inspec
tion, it will be found not to be a Tincture, as made
in Pharmacopoea, nor is it a Syrup— and therefore
can be used in cases where fever or inflammation ex
ist. In this, you have the knowledge of the ingredi
ents and the mo le of preparation.
Hoping that you will favor it with a trial and that
upon inspection it will meet with your approbation
With a feeling of confidence,
I am very respectfully yours,

The proprietor of this celebrated medicine justly
claims for it a superiority over all remedies ever offer

\vhe>her of short or longstanding. lie refers to the
entire western and Southwestern country to bear him
testimony to the truth of the assertion, that in no case
whatever will it fail to cure, if the directions are strict
ly followed and ca~ried out. In a great many cases a
single dose has been sufficient for a cure, and whole
families have been cured by a single bottle, with a per
fect restoration of the general health. It is, however
prudent, and In every case more certain to cure, if its
use is continued in smaller doses for a week or two af
ter the disease has been checked, more especially in
difficult and long standing cases. Usually, this medi
cine will not require any aid to keep the bowels in
good order; .should the patient, however, require a
cathartic medicine, after having taken three or four
doses of the Tonic, a single dose of BULL’3 VEGETA

A Question.
As Annie was carrying the baby one day,
Tossing aloft the lump of inanity,
Dear to its father and mother no doubt—
To the rest of the world a lump of hu nanity
Sam came along, and was thinking then,

Full as much of Annie as she of the baby.
‘‘Just look at the baby,'* cried Annie, in a

And Sam gave wink as if to say “mavbe.

“Now kiss it," she cried, still hugging it
closer,
“Its mouth's like the roses the honey-bee
sips!”
Sam stooped to obey, and as beads came to
gether,
There chanced to arise a coufurion of lips!
And as it occured. it might have been, maybe,
That each got a kiss, Sam Ann and the baby!
It's hard to tell what just then was tli’ matter,
For the baby was the only oue innocent
there;
And Annie flushed up like a full blown peony,
And Samuel turned red to the roots of his

So the question is thus—you can answer it,
maybe,
Did Annie kiss Sam, or did both kiss the
baby ? Albany Argus.

Your onerable comity, sinse their

It is anise plase. At Kass stashun
one of your onerable comitymcu broke
out suddenly, and sed, “I think I smell a j
fraud here; let’s stop aud look into it.”
We went into a pashunt investerga

Fust and foremost, we larnt that a
sartin lady had sum fine milk cows
that jumped into a nabors feeld close
to the ralerode. The aforesed nabor
ordered a Irishman to turn ’em out
or cut ther throtes. Ov corse he
didn’t meen that ther throtes shood
be cut, but that tlia shood be turned
out’n the feeld; but the sed Irishman
miskonstrued the aforesed order, and ?
after shootin the kattel, cut all ther
throtes and lade them near the rale
road track. Ov corse the hanus deed
was lade to the grate Stait rode, the
Irishman bavin fled to parts onnone.
After much parlyn, the rale rode aw
tbawifies konkluded to pay for the
kattel, sum or the ofisurs agreein to
put sum ov the munny into ther own
pockets. As it was a small afar, only
eyolvin about fore or five thousand dol

to inquire into the privit bizness ov
the ofisurs, we passed on to Kinkston,
which we thort mite be made a large

We went on then to Chatternug,

Your onerable comity held a niect

so we went to work to find out if thar

We put up all the offiaurs of the rodo
and swore em to tell the truth, the

they node none. We are happy ther I
to inform your onerable boddy that
we found no trase of enny corrupshun
